DCT: Can You Break the Tail loose?
Obviously in a controlled environment, is it possible to break the tail lose with a DCT tranny?

Yes you can, just turn off DSC, your dashboard will light up like Christmas.

absolutely. Like others said, turn off DSC and floor it from a stand still. Quite fun.
Don't sweat everyone being pricks just because you ask a question THEY think is a stupid one. It's the nature of internet forums. Some people think it necessary to get up on a high horse and try to make others feel inferior, when they have a keybaord and a few thousand miles between them to hide behind. I was hoping these forums would have more mature, helpful people around. Saddly I was mistaken. /rant off

Maybe you should rethink buying an ///M3, if you haven't already. It's a pretty serious machine with a lot of power and the fact that you asked such a question shows that you probably aren't ready for one... JMO.

Unfortunately the down payment is made and I'm just waiting for confirmation on my ED delivery date so there's no turning back now. I'll admit it. I've never owned a RWD car before, or a car with this much torque so I completely failed to see this as the stupid question it obviously is. My apologizes to anyone who got dumber after reading my post. Thanks for the warm welcome into the M community. |

Some of these forum members need to grow up. It's funny how im one of the younger ones and am more mature than these jackasses.
Turn DSC off and floor the bitch from a standstill, or use launch control. Obviously you wont be in total control as you would with a 6MT, but its worth sacrificing that control for a DCT.

automated transmission would prevent a driver error like that from happening. i have often wondered if the m-dct would allow for a burn out but never asked because if comments like that. to the op congrats and gl with the new car. |

The inability to feather and drop the clutch out of a corner to induce wheel spin, for starters?

The rate at which you press the accelerator determines the rate at which the clutch is applied....you want wheelspin, disable the DSC and press the throttle quickly, its not rocket salad.
