Last build date for the E92 M3?

We all knew how it went down for the E90M3.

Is there a similar estimated final build date for the E92 yet?

All we know is what I posted. As soon as Ryan or Jason(bimmerpost) gets any additional info I will be sure to post it up.

In the meantime I would just say that if you are on the fence about getting a new M3 I wouldn't wait to long bc once they are gone they are gone.

My gut tells me that bmw will cease production for the E92 M3 at the end of 2012, allow a 1-year production lapse, then release the F30 M3 in 2014 as MY 2015.

An M sales associate I spoke with said there would not be a 2013 model and that production will end in June of 2012.

Confirmed as in an official announcement from BMW? No.

But, some people in the know saying that there will be a MY 2013. And some people with late build dates being told they will get a MY 2013 M3. However, if you want an e92/93, you should order now and secure a production slot.

I JUST got off the phone with my Mil Sales rep in Germany and he said he will put in my MY2013 order in (as well as my wifes 328i vert) May 1st so we can get a Jun/Jul build date. MY2013 E92s/E93 M3s will be produced starting in Jul 12....for how long...don't know, but me thinks it will be a SHORT (Jul - Dec) run IMO.

December 2012 is probably the latest you would want to make plans around. They may build them into 2013 but it probably isn't a good gamble to make.

Per our interview with BMWNA M Manager Matt Russell last month, the E92 and E93 M3 will be built into 2013. The exact production end date is not disclosed yet, but we do know that the M3 coupe and convertible will be built sometime into the 2013 calendar year.

This info is from last month but I can confirm that it hasn't changed.

I asked my SA and he told me there will not be a 2013 M3. I am planning to get a 2013 and I don't know if I should trust him or not.

I'm rolled the dice on this info and placed my ordering on hold. Basically I would of gotten my 12' M in June ... which to me is TOO close to a 13'MY ( I know big deal rite?). so I decided to push the order back and grab one of the first production slot or ED slot plans permitting.

LETS HOPE FOR MORE INFO AT THE NYIAS!

I just got confirmation from my dealership today that July is indeed the month when the 2013 E92 M3s will start production. That's when my car should be produced. I held off from a May, possibly June production to get the new model year.

One thing to consider is that while BMW may still produce M3 e92/93's into 2013, they may NOT sell those cars in your country. For example, BMW is still making 1M's, but they are not being sold in the US . So again, if you want a new M3, I would suggest ordering it soon.

This MY13 thing does not make sense to me. Significant MY changes normally only happen after the summer shut down (August), when plant maintenance and upgrades happen, so the first MY13 production week would be around the beginning of September.

If the F30 is in production now, why would BMW enhance any E9x related production in the short remaining time of E9x production? And it does not even make much sense for the E92/93 to continue after this summer's shutdown, when I would have though that their focus would be on getting the next generation of coupes and convertibles into production.

With the E46 M3, following the launch of the E90 in 2005, the M3 coupe was built until mid 2006, i.e. pre-August 2006 shutdown, and did they not build E92s (although not M3s) from this point forward? The E46 M3 convertible continued into 1Q2007, and then the E93 (non-M3) took over in production from March 2007.

So, it is a phased switchover from one generation to the next, with saloon arriving first, then coupe, then convertible. For each of the last 2 generations, there was no period when the same bodystyle was built simultaneously in both generations. If history is a guide, I believe that this means

E90 finished October 2011, F30 saloon started November (?) 2011
(E91 is this still in production?)
E92 finishes July 2012, F30 coupe starts September 2012
E93 finishes 1Q2013, F30 convertible starts post March 2013

Next gen M3 Coupe (or is it an M4.....) starts September 2013, one year after the coupe bodystyle is launched.

LED rear lights appear a bit later...

Or maybe I need to change my medication....

Usually, yes. Or March, since it about the midpoint in that typical Sept-Sept model year run.

For whatever reason, BMW is switching most every model over earlier in summer for MY2013. This includes the F30, btw.

The new model year doesn't always bring enhancements. Sometimes it is more of a formality. This could very well be the case for the e92/3 3/M3 as changes are unlikely this late in the game. Although there are rumors of an updated ZCP and special aesthetic packages for the M3 coupe.

You can't sell the cars until they are ready. Coupe typically trails the sedan by 1.5 years or so. Same applies this generation.

Really don't know how often we have to repeat/reconfirm this in order for everyone to pay attention or believe it. There's no reason to speculate or listen to what your dealers tell you.

We just reconfirmed again today at 2012 NYIAS (with BMWNA M Brand Manager, Matt Russell) that the E92 and E93 M3 WILL be produced into 2013 as a 2013 model year.

The E92 M3 coupe will be produced until mid-2013 and the E93 M3 until a few months after the coupe stops production.

The successor M3/M4 will come as a 2014 model year car and only after all E9x models cease production.

What Matt says is the authoritative word on the NA market and more accurate than what any dealer says or what your logic/speculation may tell you.
