From a pure performance stand point take the GT and part of the 35k you saved and put it back into the Stang..... 20k in upgrades would put the GT light years ahead of the M.

I never understood why the destination charge on a Ford Mustang is $850 and only $825 for the M3. Is Bavaria closer than Detroit or is someone getting jerked?

boss would be a more balanced car. the gt500 will still be very front heavy so its relegated to a drag racing machine.

read through the threads in the M3 vs. section on this topic. and go drive one - there are significant differences between the two that can't be quantified, so take the paper comparison with a grain of salt.
I'd say it's not a bad move if you know what you're getting into. I drove one, and it wasn't suited to my tastes, but that's just me. |

The gt500 is a nice car for the thrill of violent power, but does not evoke the confidence that the m does on the track. It always feels like your having to work at driving the gt500 and the M3 seams to just know what to do. If I was just going to drive on the street or drag it, I would buy the Shelby or even better the Super Snake. But for the track, well you know........the M3 is just the most well rounded car for 60-70k, IMO.

I’d have to say the GT500 is tempting, especially since you can get one with 2k miles on it with SVT for mid 40’s. One thing to consider is the 2011 GT500 is a fair bit better than the 2010. It doesn’t suffer from heat soak as much and with the aluminum engine is 100-150lbs lighter over the front axle. Ford also did a fair amount of tuning to it.
I think if you want something that you can track the Boss 302 might be the better option. Higher redline, lighter and should be more nimble. I do believe that the Boss will outrun an M3 on the track (driver dependent of course). |

My friend/neighbor got one in the summer and he let me drive it. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty bad ass and it's FAST. I'd definitely consider it if I were you.

I haven't posted here for quite a while, but I still lurk
I made this change from e90 M3 to GT500 last November. 2010+ interiors on the Shelby's are good. Not as nice as the BMW, but not nearly as bad as people make it sound. I have no regets on making the change. The supercharger whine, torque, and exhaust note are intoxicating. The Shelby draws a lot of positive attention. Here's a couple shot of mine with Ford racing handling kit installed. |

I'm not a Chevy guy.. Corvettes are cool and all.. but I'm not interested.. Plus 4 seats is nice, I've never had a 2 seater.. seems a little impractical. Basically I'm looking for what I have in the M3 already: Daily driver, seats 4, practical.. FAST.. & gets attention from other car guys (and girls).

Cant get heated seats on a GT500 (maybe you can on 2012s) and to be honest a 300.00 Garmin is a better NAV than the factory one in the GT500. One cool thing about the NAV in the Mustang is you can get Sirius weather radar and dodge the rainclouds, when it works anyhow. Sports scores are pretty cool too, but the sound system itself isnt that great. The bigger Shaker 1000 with the subwoofer doesnt have NAV.

To round out the package, I added Steeda lower control arms, upper control arm and adjustable panhard bar. With this setup, the ride is nearly as firm as the M3 on the stiffest setting, and it is not bouncy. |

You are correct that you can't get the Shaker 1000 and NAV together. |

I didnt say the iDrive NAV was better than the Sync, just the NAV isnt really isnt that great (like most other factory NAVs) and I would never base a car decision on factory NAV. Its about a toss up between the 2011 M3 and the 2010 Sync as far as NAV goes both have their good and bad points.

This was the car I almost get instead of the BMW M3...but I just feel American Cars don't cut it and love the creature comforts with BMW. Especially when it comes to service, loaner cars, etc. The GT500 is an amazing car...finally got to test drive after going to the dealership like 8 times, but I'm into NA engines and not SC or TC...and thats just me. But who can complain with 550hp?

I'm waiting for the f32 M3...I've driven a GT500,its like being behind the wheel of a long nose Peterbuilt.
There's nothing original about those cars except they're really nose heavy and tail happy. They do very well on tracks that have a lot of long straightaways. |
