For those of you that have heard M Performance in person...

During my recent beach trip I had the opportunity to hear a M3 with M Performance exhaust and it sounded very good. It had a very nice rumble to it with a sweet nite to it while not being too obnoxious.
While I loved it, I am looking for something a bit more aggressive. For those of you that have heard various exhausts including the M Performance... What systems are quieter than the M Performance so I can go ahead and eliminate those from my long list of choices.
Honestly I like the Gitani the best because sounds absolutely raw and mean, but I am afraid that it might just be a bit too much. What would be in between the M Performance and Gitani that would be awesome sounding with a deep rumble with zero rasp. I can live with a little but drone and I will be getting a full system and not just the cat/axel back.
Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I had the M performance before the akra evo, though the M perf sounded nice it was too tame for my taste, the akra evo has a more agressive sound but still civilized, zero drone or rasp and you gain HP, also IMO the akra tips look much better than the MPE tips

After reading the ESS thread, I was strongly considering it until a few people posted that at idle it was near stock but at WOT it was great. I want something that is going to indicate very clearly that it is not stock at idle and that is why I am shying away from the ESS a bit. Am I being misled as far as the ESS goes? Also, don't forget that I will be putting a full system on it which change the tone and decibel level a bit.

Also, during the cold start I thought the M Performance idled fantastically, but ince the rpms came down to normal idle levels it became too docile for me.

Every exhaust I've had was tame sounding to me at idle. The character of the exhaust reveals itself when you get on the gas. Are you looking for more db's at idle or a more bassy sound? I really liked the muscle car gurgle from the Borla Atak at idle but it wasn't louder than the MPE until you got on it a little, it just had more bass at idle...if that's the kind of thing you want to hear.

Okay, after viewing a few M3 exhaust compilation for the 20th time.... it is my observation that the Meisterschaft has the most F1 sound which totally sounds cool, but the pitch is a tad bit too high for me. When I listened to the Eisenmann Race it still had a bit of a cool F1 sound to it but was not too high (not as high as the Meisterschaft).
Does a high pitch (F1) sound necessarily equate to more rasp or not?
That is why I am trying to stay towards the low, bassy, boomy exhausts to avoid rasp plus the low rumble makes it seem much cooler.
Now that I have eliminated the Dinan due to it being a bit too quiet along with the MPE. Now I need to eliminate those that might be too F1-like having high pitch like the Meisterschaft. I honestly hate making conclusions due to video and that is why I am asking you guys for opinion especially if you have heard an exhaust in person that you would like to recommend per my requirements or even eliminate for me.
Thanks guys!

I've heard plenty of exhaust on m3 and no one makes it sound like anything similar to F1.

lol those sound nothing like F-1 exhausts.

This may sound crazy, but if you want an F-1 sound then get an F-1 exhaust such as IPE or Kreisseg

Seriously? I guess I need to make myself more clear on these message boards..... None of these exhaust sounds like NASCAR, but if you had to choose one that would MOST resemble a stockcar then many might pick Gitani although it does not necessarily sound like a NASCAR, but the sound is more in that direction than F1 cars. A M3 with a Meisterschaft indeed does not sound like a F1 car, but it is higher pitched like a F1 car.... jeezzzz people!
FVM3, since you have heard PLENTY of M3 exhausts could you maybe say something that might steer me in the right way. Tell me which ones are higher in pitch and which ones have rasp so I know what to stay away and tell me which ones are really low without being over the top loud like the Gitani with the x pipe. I have only heard one exhaust on a M3 (MPE), so certainly you can contribute something other than telling me that none of them sound like a F1 car!
JAM3S, I see that you are in Charlotte which is very close to me. What exhaust set-up are you running?

You may want to make clear from what perspective you are most interested in.
1.) yours for personal enjoyment from in cabin
2.) others

Sometimes it sounds bad ass from outside the car, but inside it is less than stellar and you have to put your imagination to work.

Another thing to consider is that sound and feel you get while decelerating with a catless or HFC. I don't know how to describe it, but I experienced it when I had the MRF xpipe and suppose any xpipe beyond stock will do.

Simply put I would like for it to sound intoxicating to me inside the cabin once I step on it... A deep musical howl (almost an oxymoron) as I climb up the rpm's! I can only imagine that something like that would sound good on the outside as well!

based on what you said you are looking for, i'd recommend the oem exhaust mod - perforated pipe method. it's amazing ... quiet when going easy, nice and aggressive when you stomp on it.

Should also check out the Evolve E-tronic unit!

They dont get enough credit for the R&D & quality for that piece

Also a big plus to have the valve function..

I had Eisenmann race with an X-Pipe, then went to MPE with x-pipe...it gets really really loud, no rasp, and no drone while cruising. Glad I switched.

Gintani Race is one (if not the only) muffler that acutally thumps at idle and is still very noticeable.
