+1. The numbers don't make sense the way I read them either. It looks as if there would be MORE net gains by adding the x-pipe to stock instead of x-pipe/remus race. Its an argument to NOT purchase the Remus Race because you would loose 6hp. Is that rigth?

No dude, the remus wasn't new. He already had a remus...THEN he had the x-pipe...

So the remus hypothetically gives him +12hp - the stock +0
THEN he adds the x-pipe= remus- 12+10 the stock 0+16
hypothetical totals= remus +22hp - stock +16

Thats how you read it-

I see... WOW...that is a great deal considering Remus is one of the more reasonably priced mufflers. 22hp plus great sound.

Ya it is- now I was using a hypothetical number to prove the point, I don't know the exact number they claim (i.e. +12hp)

But ya the combination of muffler plus x-pipe is considerable

Whats up boys- kay, so I got up off my ass and met with powertrip- I hope he doesn't mind me doing a "3rd party non-owner one hour" review? Nope? Good.

Its caused me to consider the different sounds that come out of cars. Deep gutteral rumble/High end howl/raw open engine. I'm sorry those aren't very technical, I'm an accountant not an engineer, douchebags

Examples: American V8/Lamborgini (sp?)/ALMS respectively- In my experience, most of the after market mufflers for the M3 add 'deep gutteral rumble'. Many supercars and exotics are mainly 'high end howl'. And this modification definately adds 'raw open engine'.

Whoever said it makes it deeper is silly. Unfortunately () I didn't have my car, but with stock mid section and aftermarket muffler my car was definately deeper and much fuller in the low end.

Raspy is maybe the wrong word. Raspy makes it sound wimpy. It's not wimpy, it sounds mechanical and harsh, very badash!

Also, and maybe I just can't remember what the stock sounds like, but it didn't make it ridiculously louder. A race muffler is louder than this. AND it absolutely removed drone ENTIRELY. If you want to eliminate drone, definately look into this...

In the end, it has definately proven this to be a formidable modification that is most likely, barring some sort of horrific account of malfunction, going to be my next addition...

Thanks powertrip! and thanks Fabspeed!

^--- Umm not so sure I understand your entire reveiw.....

But go for the x-pipe you will love it. I haven't even turned my music on since I've installed mine. I wish I had before and after dyno runs with my new setup to prove any power gains. But the Fabspeed cats, you can look right through them, not like OEM they are way less restrictive. Plus when you look up the tail pipe of the AA mufflers you can see all the way up to the X section of the Fabspeed pipe. The car is definitely running strong now.

Hopefully I'll have videos up soon

I just had this installed today, with cats and resonators, stock mufflers. I briefly had an eisenmann race exhaust before. the race was much, much louder, deeper, smoother but also more boomy at low rpms.

the sound is just slightly louder at idle, barely noticeable. I can see why people use the word rasp, although I also think that's not quite the right word - I'd say it is more a guttural, mechanical bark under acceleration or deceleration, sort of a deep animal rasp for lack of a better way of putting it. at points it sounds pretty brutal. but you can definitely cruise with no drone and, at minimal throttle, it doesn't sound that different than stock. so it has something of a split personality. honestly, I don't think I've heard another exhaust sound quite like it.

having said that, mine is making a slight thht-thht-thht sound under load that doesn't sound right. I'm actually going to take my car back to the shop to double check for a leak or friction against something, maybe heat shielding, near the headers. it moves so much sound forward to the headers as compared to after-market mufflers or the stock system.

honestly, I can't imagine those of you getting this plus mufflers. do you people have no neighbors, no kids, no wife (no hearing)?

I stick by my comment about the tone being deeper if you put the complete Fabspeed setup on a stock car. It howls.... The tone definately has a few db of extra lows. No doubt. Obviously not as much as swapping mufflers, but there is more bottom.

Didn't you get in on the special package from IND? You know the one where when you order the Eisenmann Race they thrown in a free set of Bose Noise Cancelling headphones for everyone on your block?
