To tint or not to tint... that is the question

here's the car:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230576

do you guys think i should tint it? i think it looks really clean as is... if i did do tints, i wouldnt want them too dark. BTW, i plan on leaving the car just like it is right now... at least for a while.

vote please!

Tint it! Do your windshield too. Do it 50% and it will make the car look so slick.

Notice in the pic that my windshield is tinted and my brother-in-laws C63 windshield isn't. Looks so much better when it's tinted.

There should have been another option, 35-50 all the way around. I wouldn't do tint if the fronts don't match the backs. Here is mine in an optic blue 50% all the way around. It reduces the heat in the car, adds a bit of privacy without sacrificing visibility and won't give me any issues with the cops either.

It shouldn't affect your V1 at all. I have a Passport SRX and it works perfectly.

I noticed where you live. Have you had any issues with police? I plan to do the same but cross the U.S. / Canada boarder a lot.

I would have thought tinting the front windshield is illegal everywhere? It is at least here.

I don't think anyone said it was legal, just that it looks good and that of won't affect functionallity of detectors. Besides, in most states you can't even tint the front driver/passenger windows at ALL, let alone the windshield.

You're right, it's not legal but as Metak said it does look good. I think it looks very stealth looking.

I haven't had any issues yet and hopefully I don't. The car is actually darker now because that pic was taken when my sides were 35%, now they're 20%. I was following a cruiser before I put my car away for winter and neither of the police officers inside the car noticed a thing. I believe the law says that the officer must be able to see into the car. I guess I can get away with it more because I have black interior which darkens it up even more.

Is there some sort of master thread with tint pics/specs? I did a quick search and came up empty. It would be sweet to see the different levels of tint on different colors. Anyone want to start such a thread? Or link to one if it exists? (I'm new here...)

I had 50% on the windshield of my E46, hated it after a while.

I vote to do 35-50% on your sides and rear, forget the front.

actually I see you're in Miami, I take that back - do 15-20% on your sides and rear. It will help keep the car a little cooler.

I had 50% tint on the windshield... hated it after a while because it really affects night visibility when driving in dark areas. Ended up paying to get it taken off a month after I got them put on.

First time I got tint on a earlier car I went with 5% limo tint on rear and sides. Looked sick on the car but nighttime visiblity, esp when backing up, absolutely stunk.

I got 35% on my rear/sides and with my black interior, think its the best compromise of heat reduction/looks + night time visibility.

I have no idea how you can't see out of your windshield with 50% tint on it. I don't even notice it on there. How bad are your eyes?
