The car looks to be in pretty good condition (except for the hood of course), considering it hit a person @ ~65mph.
I wonder what that video would look like if the person were hit with an F01 or F10 with the new higher front-end for pedestrians... |

Maybe I don't quite get it, but didn't the pedestrian cross on a red light? If that is the case, then wouldn't it be his fault? I don't know the speed limit on that road but if the driver was speeding I guess some of the blame could be put on him. But still, the pedestrian should have known better than to cross on a red light, or am I missing something here?

1. State dependent (and different for crosswalks with lights vs. one's without...I don't see a yield to pedestrians sign either) and at night with a green light for the car and a red light for the pedestrian you can't reasonably be expected to even identify a pedestrian in the crosswalk 2. was he drag racing? they don't look like they're going much faster than the cars going the other direction Not saying who is right and who is wrong, the pedestrian was pretty dumb to cross against the lights in a busy intersection and the guy was probably going a bit fast for the condtions

Not trying to defend the M3 driver, but that pedestrian was also being an idiot. It seemed like he wasn't even paying attention. Just because you looked once doesn't mean you stop paying attention. That and he noticed them coming at him and had about 2 seconds to react (you actually see him pause and think about what to do). He tried to jump past it. All he had to do was back up a step or two and he would have both cars fly right past him. Dangerous, but easily the best course of action.
Just my 2 cents. Hopefully, the guy made it out alive and that driver got arrested. Last edited by DarkRider23; 08-30-2010 at 01:08 AM.. |

The M3 driver does have pretty bad reflexes though... I had that happen to me once leaving the racetrack. Almost clipped a scooter that came out of no where on a red.

I dont see how its the M3 drivers fault...There is a reason why pedestrians have a light to tell them when to go...for their safety

Really? Maybe then the woman who sued google (walking) maps for telling her to walk on to a freeway has no case as the cars on the freeway should yield to the pedestrian? Hope you have upgraded brakes!

Way too many people here just walk out into moving traffic knowing the cars will stop for them, and don't even bother to look both ways at oncoming traffic! Or they will walk out in front of you and give you a look as if to say "what are you going to do about it?" Sometimes I think they need to be hit to be taught a lesson The worst part is, here in Ontario, we pay with our taxes for some moron who took a stroll in front of a moving bus to be put up in a first class medical facility when others could use the care more and didn't make foolish choices in life to require it. At any rate, clearly the driver in this video was partly to blame due to speeding. |

Personally - I would feel really guilty as hell for hitting anyone with my car. My fault or not.

Well for starters, thank God that dude is still alive. I for sure thought he would be dead when I saw the first impact clip.
Second; As you all know, Europe, especially eastern Europe has some different laws than in the States. I know for example on a US military base (I'm USAF) everyone has to stop right in the the middle of the fucking road for some idiot that decides to cross the street even if not on a cross-walk. So I always have to expect to stop or they'll get pissed off as if they had the right of way ALL THE TIME! In Italy, if the little guy is green and your on the white lines cross walk, the drivers will come to a stop or risk a huge fine or even jail for clipping a pedestrian on when they have right of way. My uncle which is a Mareshallo (Police Chief) in my home town tells me all the time how if you decide to cross the cross walk when it's red or anywhere else, if you get hit and the driver was NOT speeding, you'll risk not just the injuries but possibly getting sued by the driver for damage to his car. I'm sure it's not allways that cut and dry. But this guy in the BMW for sure was speeding, and the pedestrian does from the video seem like he was just not paying attention. I can't tell if he had right of way or the driver did form a black and white video but speeding through the city in a bussy intersection like that is asking for something like this to happen. I'm just amazed that dude survived it, he flew like a rag doll. |
