Sounds like rates are all over the place. I pay $45 a month with state farm but I also have a lot of policies with them.

It is NOT total BS. Allstate told me they don't insure M3s. Of course, I told them that they were full of it. Agent came back and said they would insure my M3 since I was a longtime customer.

Bottom line: There is some kind of blacklist with Allstate, but it's pretty easy to circumvent.

Same here.

I may have to phone my agent to verify the claim, but as of March of this year, my Allstate agent informed me that a new M3 was going to cost me less than any of the other make and models that I had asked him to provide me insurance costs. So, all I can say to the info posted by the OP is "You should probably talk to a different Allstate agent that does business in Florida" which is where my agent is located as am I.

My agent is based in FL and writes multi lines in FL. Allstate is going to write my coverage. I am curious to know if anyone has obtained insurance for their M3 through Allstate within the last year or so that was not a previous policyholder.

To my surprise, she told me they don’t insure the M3! I almost fell out of my chair. Keep in mind this list includes Veyrons, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, etc.

I was curious as to why they did not insure the M3. She said something along the lines of it was a high speed performance car. I have been with Allstate for around 3+ years and I asked if this would be taken into consideration. She checked with the owner and apparently I can get coverage due to the length of time I have been a policyholder with Allstate. She said Allstate stopped writing coverage for the M3 about a year ago. I had no idea. I think that is a pretty strong statement for the M3 to be classified in a category with true exotics.
My 2011 M3 is insured through All State.

If I might speculate...
I'm thinking the individual agencies have some say in who they'll insure.

Reason I say this, I had Allstate when I lived in CA. When I moved to OK, the agent here said I had to sign a waiver to my home owners policy because I owned a Doberman Pinscher. When I was in CA...they didn't even bat an eye about something like that.
Nicest, most friendliest, dog I've ever owned...so I dumped their asses after nearly 15 years with them.

Sometimes it can depend upon locale. It might not be about risk of a sportscar, but risk of theft.

Remember when Blaupunkt stereos were all the rage for smash-and-grab? Happened 6 times in my old 320i. Insurance companies would not cover that anymore.
