Where is the best place to buy tires in GTA?

I'll need a new set soon, and thinking about the PSS in the 255/275 size. Is there a place in the GTA you can recommend that has a good price and crew to install and balance?

What about ordering and driving to buffalo and doing it there? Any advantage or is it a wash?

Oh an also what are you guys using to clean your MS air filters? just a K & N kit from Canadian Tire?

thanks all

The two places I would recommend are in Mississauga. I actually just got a set of 275/35/18 PSS from Tires23 (www.tires23.com), and they're being installed on Saturday. They were easily the cheapest people I spoke to (came to $100 more than Tire Rack for the set), and they do a good job mounting and balancing. The only other place I would really recommend would be Megawheelz (http://www.megawheelz.com/). They're usually a bit more expensive, but the guys there are super nice, and really careful to make sure no wheel gets damaged.

Before you do compare prices from TireRack. I purchased a set of 4 Winter tires last year from them the were delivered to my front door within 4 days of ordering them on line and no one even Canadian Tire could not beat the TireRack price.

Allen @ Simpy Tire is one of the very cheapest in Toronto:
http://www.simplytire.com/

His price for install is also very cheap and includes Hunter Road Force Balancing. He'll beat Tire Rack's "Shipped to Canada and installed" price EVERY time.

That being said, I just bought (and installed) my Michelin PSS from Dan at Bailey Tire in Buffalo:
http://www.buffalonytires.com/

His price was $350-$400 cheaper than anywhere in Toronto. He also includes Hunter Road Force Balancing as well for a very low price.

They both make ordering from Tire Rack look expensive!

If you go to either shop, let them know I sent you!

Beating Canadian Tire's price isn't an accomplishment as they are actually one of the most expensive places around.

For what it's worth, I did some calling and bargaining and still the cheapest place I could get AD08 this winter was Discount Tire Direct. They have about the same price as tire rack but somehow with no brokerage fees or duty, and with free shipping to Canada (just the provincial tire tax pre-paid at ordering time). Not sure how they pull it off, but it worked for me, and when they called me to very the order, they confirmed that it would be this way - no UPS fees on delivery.

+1

I've purchased my last 4 sets from them. Even after paying for the install locally DTD wins hands down.

Good thread! I ordered some NT05s from DTD this winter and the price was about $500 less for the set than what I was quoted locally.

However still have to get them mounted, Endras quoted me $189 which is a little steep...

I just did a price check on DTD for tires I installed yesterday on my wife's SUV - Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport 275/45R19 and the difference between their "total out the door" price and my invoice (including taxes) was only $150 so save yourself the trouble and call John @ Albion 5 Bay.
