Interesting. For me, the opposite. I originally thought the photos looked pretty good. When I saw it in person, it just screams "built by a committee of obnoxious children who never spoke to each other". I'm sure it's a blast to drive. But for me, it looks absolutely awful.

In about 3 years the C7 base will be worth 42k used and the C7 Z07 around 58k used.
but maybe it was worth it to people who want the car right now.

I've read that the pictured version could include the Z07 track pack, just as the regular Corvette debuted with the Z51 pack equipped. I have no way to confirm that rumor though, nor did anyone I saw who suggested that offer any details as to what the track pack entailed other than the front splitter and larger rear spoiler.

If that's true though, if I were to order a Z06 I would likely get it without that track pack even though I go to the track. I just don't want to deal with that large front splitter on a car that will also be a DD, and I only do ~4 HPDE weekends per year, no club racing, so I don't think I'll miss the extra tenths that the track pack might bring to the table. Additionally, on the C6 Z06, the Z07 package also included carbon ceramics and PS Cup tires, which I definitely do NOT want. I do want Magnetic Ride Control though, so hopefully that's either standard or a standalone option.

Our M3s have plenty of rattles that set in by 20K miles, so the Krauts are hardly without fault.

I daily drove a Z06 for nearly 5 years with heads, cam, and all the other bolt-ons and never had one issue...

Probably because staying NA wouldn't have let them hit their power targets while also hitting other design goals -- V8 was likely one of them, and I don't know of a road-going production NA V8 that delivers anywhere near 600+ hp and tq. I guess there's the Ferrari 458 Speciale engine for horsepower, but it has much less torque since it's high-revving rather than high-displacement, which isn't the Corvette's style -- and that would hardly fit within a Z06 cost target anyway.

There are also rumors that there won't be a ZR1 for this generation, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Sure, I guess it will feel that way for about 3 months as they drive around and feel they got something no one else has. Then reality and buyers remorse will seep in once they realize they could have waited and had the same thing 12 to 24 months later for 20k less. Patience, always pays off.

honestly though. some people like to buy things new and right when they come out. and 20k is not THAT much money to some.

i wont care that much if the car losses 20k in value in 2 years.

Your Z06 numbers are way off. '11 Z06 right now are selling for over 70k.

Plenty of M3s I know on this forum that have shake/rattle etc.

GM has stepped up their game across the board and that is a fact.

^ What he said. The level of technology in the new corvette is something to behold.

Especially considering things like the Performance Data Recorder which is GM responding to track-day enthusiasts with mucho favor.

Compare that with the new M3/M4 $ for $, the C7 is absolutely world class.
