I don't understand why even though you are having issues you are attempting to solve them by continuing to push the car and drive it around, instead of having a knowledgeable tech. look at it...

It doesn't sound like the OP waited the 200 miles for his break in on the s/c like ESS recommends either by his posts.

Break in is fine, on another note, worst fucking luck ever.... On my way to AR Design, and some bitch runs a stopsign..... Car isn't driveable. Something is wrong with steering/suspension now and the steering wheel is kicked sideways when car is driving straight and the yellow brake light is on. Thank God she had insurance at least.... Seriously, this week and this car has pissed me the fuck off. Looks like more down time.

Sorry to hear about his dude. I'm a firm believer that crappy stuff happens in threes. Based on what Denver put in, sounds like you're in the clear now.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how the car is doing.

I didn't realize this until I went FI. Say you are in 5th gear 80mph Auto Mode and you floor it, there is like a delay as I believe it is the clutch slipping and can trigger a DCT overheat problem. It's almost like the car gets confused when dropping too many gears. Need to make sure you are in the proper gear before going WOT.

It's not really talked about much as I don't think too many SC guys even drive in auto. It isn't a kit specific issue as I believe M33 wrote up a really good list of "dos and donts" for supercharger owners which mentioned this and other common stuff. Search around for the list as it is quite informative.

Yes, I've read that but forgot the reason why. I do not floor it, I drop gears and start in the optimal gear when going WOT, so no problem there and no change in driving style needed on my part. However, on occasions, once I've selected the proper gear and go WOT, I swhitch to D mode to let the transmission shift for me. I believe that would not be a problem, right? Thanks for the info.

It's not so much the auto/manual mode setting as it is the shift logic setting. You always want to be in the higher/highest setting to reduce slippage.

Yep you got it! Shouldn't have a problem with that at all. You'll know if something bad is happening - the delay/slip is very easy to feel and pretty easy to trigger a DCT overheat error. From what I hear the DCT isn't actually overheating, it is just confused. The clutch slip can't be good for longevity though.

I will test out your method and see how it goes for me. It is theoretically the best way to get optimal times, etc.

I honestly used to drive my 08 M3 in auto mode more than manual. I'm really happy this supercharger helped change that. I was an idiot - now I find myself using paddles on any regular auto too. Much more fun!

BMW135er,
For this particular issue the shift logic setting really doesn't help. Just don't leave the car in auto in 3rd gear+ and go WOT. GIDrivers method seems to work fine.

Can you still use the kickdown super downshift in manual DCT mode with a super charger? And why is it when you ask people what the cons of a SC are, this is not mentioned. I dont use AUTO mode, but if some reason I did, it would have been nice to know I cant punch it prior to buying one. Not cool.
