2011 Visor Stickers - Uggh

Folks,

I just tried removing the airbag stickers from my 2011 M3 with Goo Gone and they would not budge. It seems like they are painted on.

The cheesy vinyl doesn't really bother me, but the warning stickers are hideous.

I WILL NOT spend $300 for Euro visors because I'm cheap.

Has anyone sprayed the visors with black paint? I know it may not look great, but at least it won't be a giant warning sticker.

I used non acetone nail polish remover to get rid of mine. Put the nail polish remover on a clean cloth and rub and the warning will start to come off. I sprayed them with Febreze afterwards. Smell went away after a couple of weeks. A buddy of mine took his visors off so he wouldn't have any smell in his car, but I couldn't be bothered.

Firstly, they're not painted on. It's a rubberized adhesive that CAN come off.

I took it off with no problem. Soak a rag with Goo Gone and dab the rag onto the stickers. Eventually it will bubble up and you'll be able to peel it off.

Word of warning, DO NOT RUB VIGOROUSLY. Doing so can distort the vinyl covering. Just be gentle and be patient. Once it's all off, then clean the visor with a wet towel remove the residual chemical and smell.

You could also try the old can of hairspray and a match technique to burn away the offending rubberized painted on sticker mess.

This is the second thread about this in just as many days. Personally I'm not sure why it is a big deal, but hey, to each his own.

I would urge against using a hair dryer. It can soften and warp the vinyl cover on the visor and may leave it wrinkly-looking.

2011s are different

BTW -- I've removed these things in 3 other cars. It's easy when the sticker is on fabric.

The 2011s are different than the 2010. I soaked these things with goo gone and the warnings did not budge. Literally no change - no peeling - nothing.

I will try again later in the week.

Acetone + Microfiber = Visor Bliss

I was able to successfully remove the warning stickers off my visors.

Thanks folks.

(Sorry for the blur-o-vision picture)

It's a shame that BMW chose to put those economy type sun visors on the 2011 3 series cars. They look like they came from a 1970's Datsun.

I will say that the visors that come on the $100K X5M look and feel even cheaper than the current 3 series visors. Now that's really being cheap.

They Are So Cheap

Maybe I should swap with my E46 visors before I sell it.
