Lumbar bolsters are INCREDIBLY TIGHT

I just bought a 2009 M3 today and while I love everything about it, the lumbar bolsters are like a vise. I tried using the round adjustment knob (the one with the arrows going 4 different ways). I tightened up the seats using the button and then backed out and it still was tight. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about.

Dunno.

Driven a few E9x cars, never had (or heard of) this issue.

there is a switch in front of the round lumbar adjustment that adjusts seat width.it has two arrows on it,to make the seat bolsters wider or narrower.it sounds like this may be snugged in too tight.

There is a separate button for the bolsters. About 4" in front of the round four-way button, there is a two-way button that points forward and back. That will adjust the bolsters.

Edit: Robbie beat me to it. I ran out to my car to make sure that I was describing it accurately...

Ah, sorry, I misread OP's post, thought he said this. My bad.

Thanks guys! I tried that adjustment just now, we'll see how it feels tomorrow. And I am a big guy 6'6" about 275, so I could definitely stand to lose a few pounds. My brother who is not overweight commented on it too, so I knew it wasn't just my fat ass. Hopefully the adjustment works and if not then it's Atkins diet for me.

I'm 6'5 210, and empathize with the squished feeling, especially if my wife adjusts it and doesn't put it back. I wish the seat would remember that position too. Also, I miss how my old 09 335i seamed to go almost to the floor. The M3 seems a bit less roomy vertically, but I love driving it way more!

No memory position buttons on the seat?
Give your wife the second key as each key has its own memory and will recall the setting used with that key. Radio stations, seat positions etc.

I'm 6'1" 220 and it took me a little while to get used to how tight the bolsters are, even on the widest setting. Absolutely love them now, though. Hope with enough seat time they feel good to you, too.

The round adjustment knob is the wrong knob. It is a two direction switch in front of that.

Also, OP is @ 275 lbs and I have a feeling it will be tight regardless.

I think that the round knob of which you speak is the lumbar adjustment.

She has the second key, the bolsters do not get saved into the seats memory settings if I remember correctly from reading the manual.

Same here, bolster settings are not memorized in the key fobs/seat memory buttons.
