Cadillac will never match the E90. They will never be able to make such a refined monster, one that can be wild yet restrained. Cadillac can keep trying, but BMW will advance while Cadillac continues copying what BMW has done in the past.

While IMHO the S65 will be a much better sounding engine and better engine than the S55 in the F80/2, I foresee the F80/2 utterly destroying whatever horrid creation Cadillac makes.
You should work for BMW's marketing department

Judging by my experiences in test driving CTS-V wagons... yes, Cadillac is behind. But not by as much as you'd think.

Moreover, if Cadillac is comparing a saloon ATS-V to a saloon M3, they have no choice but to compare an old design to what they're going to brign to market. Such is the nature of the product cycle and it's exactly what all car manufacturers (including BMW) do.

Yep, they need to bring it.

M5 isn't the default choice in that segment anymore, M6 far from it. I hope M division is pissed.

No offense, but this kind of thinknig is both dangerous for any car company and not in the best interest of us, the consumers. There are very few bad cars actually sold today in Europe or the Americas. And most successive generations of cars are getting better with time.

IMO, one only need to drive a basic F30 328i to see that BMW is no longer clearly head and shoulders better than the competition.

Competition is healthy and should raise the bar. Let's home BMW keeps this in mind.

It's nice to see E90 M3 Sedan become a benchmark for new gen Cadillac ATS-V.
By the way, since the production for E90 M3 had been ended for over 18 months, any one knows the final production figures for E90 M3 total built?

Is it just me, or is that a very flattering shot of the Ms rear end?

Very very true. We should demand the best car for our money, period.

I drove an ATS (turbo four) and except for the transmission (drove both MT and AT) and some throttle response issues, it was a stellar car. In no way does it resemble older Cadillacs. The chassis was much more fun than even the newest gen CTS-V.

Here's to hoping for some more good choices for enthusiasts ahead.

Stupid comparison imo... But ive seen this with many cars... People stack the M3 up like it is a god. Ive seen a Veyron vs M3 drag race and a couple others. Its a known car and well respected in the car community.

The internet says Cadillac is trying to ditch the stigma of being an "old man's car", but to me it still is. The styling is terrible enough to keep me from considering buying one no matter how much horse power they produce. This is definitely just my opinion.

This is what yahoo says: "As the starter Cadillac -- with a base price beginning at $33,095 -- the ATS ought to help bring younger buyers to a geriatric brand whose average owner is still 65, according to research firm Strategic Vision. The average age of a BMW owner, by contrast, is 48."
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/the-e...213405454.html

Younger people are always checking out my M3. They want one, but can't afford one yet. Cadillac is much more affordable, but young people just don't buy them.
