From 335 to 13' S4 to '13 M3!

Hey Guys!

Been on the forums for a while, mainly a lurker with a few comments and questions here and there but I wanted to finally officially introduce myself and my 2013 e92 M3!!! I have wanted this car for so long and it's still unreal to me that I got one!

My girlfriend and I picked her up about a month ago from BMW of Alexandria; about 3 hours from where I am in Jersey. She knew my obsession as everyday during my lunch hour I'd hunt around autotrader and cars.com looking at new, used and CPO M's; she thought (well still thinks) I was nuts! Here's why:

Back in September, she came home from school to me in a 2013 S4. I traded my CPO 335i in for it and although even then I wanted an M, I settled for an S4 (insert first world problems line here). Anyway I loved the Audi, it was a great DD, even in stock form! It had a lot of tech i.e. Google Maps, rear fogs, the seats looked sick with the alcantara, R8 steering wheel, 6mt, actual bright DRL's stock (even tho I loved my LUX). It had a lot of neat stuff.

Once STaSIS came out with their B8.5 ECU tune, I got her tuned and put a Roc-Euro intake on. The car PULLED! And the Supercharger Whine was LOUD!! I loved it..for about 10 minutes. But I still lusted after an M3. I would look at the Audi and see the things I wanted to change like the ugly stock 18's and hmm maybe an exhaust would sound nice...the steering was EPS and I hated it! But overall the car did everything well but I couldn't fight the M3 bug!

So after 8 months of ownership, I saw this Mineral white M3 for sale at BMW of Alexandria. I thought it was sweet! It was uniquely optioned; here's the options:

Mineral White Metallic
Fox Red/Black/Black
6MT
Heated front seats
Carbon Leather
CF Roof
Nav
Sirius
BMW Apps
260M 18's
Gloss Black Kidneys

So I emailed the dealership and after some back and forth I said "look, I don't NEED a new M3 since the Audi is 8 months old. But if you can make me a sweet deal I'll put a deposit down and come get the car." So I got the M3 for $300 over invoice and they gave me break-even on my S4. I thought it was good enough and the opportunity wouldn't be around again since this is the end of the e9X so I pulled the trigger. I couldn't be happier! I LOVE this car!!! Just starting it up puts a smile on my face I love being back in an e92 interior just far better than my 335 was even with manual seats I just did the break-in service at BMW of turnersville and WOW! I love hearing this thing at redline! So much more visceral than both the modded 335i and modded S4; granted they were both quicker in a straight line with a lot more torque down low but I don't miss it one bit!

Sorry for the longgg thread but I just washed her and was on a car kick sooo oh well lol. Now onto the (crappy droid) pictures!

And welcome. That was about how long it took me to get bored with my '11 B8S4... Nice DD, quick and all but just not much of a drivers car, even with the manual/suspension/flash/exhaust/etc... Nothing I did to it made me want to drive it more either.

Thank you! I agree the S4 was great and some BBS shoes would have been nice but I knew it would only be a temporary solution for lack of M lol

Thanks I'm glad I went 6mt; even the engineer in me loves the DCT for what it is lol. As for mods, it will be a real subtle list:

Painted Reflectors
Eibach w/ e36 bumpstops and shaved guide supports
Either MS or TMS spacers 15f/12(.5)r
Perforated OEM exhaust mod
BPM tune and coding
Possibly LUX V4 (kinda digging the yellow AE's after seeing all the LCI 3ers in my town; stands out)
Avoid drilling into my front bumper for jersey's front plate lol

That's about it for mods...the craziest I'll go is just keep the 260m's for winter and get a set of te37's..after seeing that "Strictly te37s" post I'm hooked lol. But honestly, the silver 260's don't look bad at all in person! Wayyy better than the 219'w in silver IMO

Thanks man! The 335 was my first Bimmer so that opened the flood gates to my love for BMW's...people who don't know think I'm weird like, "It's basically the same car as your old one isn't it?" Lol if they only knew how hard run-flats really were...

Haha I actually test drove an RS5 the week prior to getting my M3..it was $80K the car did sound sweet tho with the extra fuel added during up and down shifts but I wasn't crazy about the Panther Black Prizm paint and those heavy 20's lol.. plus I was really looking for 6mt and that's not an option with that car; amazing ride for sure tho you can't go wrong with either IMO

Thank you very much! I would have gotten the comp package if I could have ordered my car but allocations were all gone by that point! I was planning to order: no I drive, comp package, space gray, heated seats, fox red and carbon leather 6mt but honestly, I love the way my car is optioned. I never had EDC so I don't miss it lol and Mineral white is a gorgeous color in the sun! I've only had black and dark blue cars lol so this is a nice change I did however almost get a Laguna Seca blue ZCP car with carbon leather and speed cloth which would have been sweet lol but the dealership would NOT deal saying my Audi was only worth $36k when BMW of Alexndria gave me break-even at $46k.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one lol but exactly a great DD and on paper, a much smarter choice for everyday since NJ sees some snow in the winter etc. As good at it was I just wasn't in love with it, there was no emotional connection.

Thank you it's good to be back! Audizine is so disorganized that forum was not fun to be on...this group is smart with some interesting threads and funny characters it's great! And thanks!! It was between a 111 and the 005 but IMO the logo > sandwich dial.. I need a gunny strap! I have a few Mario Paci, some panatime but my favorite is my Vintager strap by Micah. Great choice! I love the interior, certainly not something you see often.

I too went through a lot of time ruling out Audis on my path the M3. The RS5 would be the proper comparison but the price is absurd especially considering all the "genuine VW parts" and related concerns. The S5 is hawt but lacks the visceral, fun sport car qualities of the M. I recently encountered a passenger of an S5 taking pics of my car on the highway...

As for the interior it's different I think because I thought the Fox Red/Black/Black was only available with premium package but I don't have that..my seats are manual lol (I think it looks cool with the two levers lol) but exactly.. I felt like that guy in my S4! I'd see an M3 drive by and be like woahhh haha I even took pics of e46 m3's if i saw them! I didn't have any problems with my Audi thank goodness but the EPS wasn't enjoyable..there's a huge post on audizine about issues with the 13's electric power steering; there was a service bulletin for it but my vin wasn't included which it definitely should have been.

If you happen to get in trouble for the plate, there is always this option which doesn't require any bumper drilling.

Thats a great find^, in michigan we dont have to run a front plate, But for states that do that thing is awesome, car that have holes for the plate are worth less and look like hell, i wont even move to a state that runs front plates i hate um so much.
