FS: Motons - Hybrid Setup

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
I've ran these for about 10,000km since my Bilsteins PSS10 died for a second time. It took quite a while to sort out all the problems and parts. This is now a perfect bolt on set-up.

Moton SS Struts - 7 clicks
Hyperco 800lb race springs - front
Eibach 1100lb race springs - rear
KW Clubsport Camber Plates
KW CS Perches/Original Moton Perches
KW Helper springs front
Rear helper springs
They have seen 5 days on Mosport Grand Prix Race Track .. I was a novice so I didn't really push these to their potential.

Putting aside labour and time spent to get this set up, the parts cost me about $5000.

Asking: $3500

All pictures attached are of current condition, I cleaned and packaged them ready to ship out. Due to the nature of suspension components, this is sold as-is.

Would you consider this a strictly track oriented setup? spring rates are pretty high so i assume so.
Looks like you've done a lot of work, why for sale?

Has the original blow-off valve design been replaced with the improved design that eliminates trapped air and noise? If not, shipping the dampers on their side will result in fluid loss and trapped air.

Your spring rates are definitely on the track-side of things. With those rates do you have sufficient suspension travel for street use? How low do you have to run the car or are you using droop spacers to allow a higher ride height and sufficient rebound travel?

Yes and no. It really depends on the person. I went after this set up because I liked how the GT3 RS rides - stiff as hell. I still drove my car on the street since this went on. None of my friends seem to find it uncomfortable to sit in or drive in, except if we venture into a landmine field of a street. The car is sold due to my knee injury.

Yes, this is the original 7 click design but it has been fixed. I have absolutely no noise daily driving or tracking this car. I agree my spring rates are more track-oriented, which was my intent. As for the drop, I remember having a lengthy discussion with Richard about it. You're not going to get stock ride height on this set, but you also need not be slammed. I've tried a few set ups until I settled with my final. Which had a bout a finger gap in the front and about 15mm tuck in the rear. I just wanted to get rid of the rake the m3 came with.
I did also have a couple of other set up where it included 2 finger gaps front and 1 rear, but it looked funny. I don't know the circumstances of your DD so it could be a different story for you. I used the spacers for 2 reasons, one was what you mentioned, the other to reduce any chance of noise/movement.

As for the sitting side ways thing, when I bought this set, James Clay told me to let it run @ lower setting for a few days to let the fluids settle. I imagine it would be the same now?

They originally come with much softer rates, 360/600 I think. So ya, it will work with no problems with a softer spring.

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work..Pej is right about the original spring rates. At any rate, it's now sold.. thanks for looking.
