^ Looks nice. A CF roof on a red M3 looks amazing though too.

Ignoring all performance and style considerations, the likelihood that the next buyer will be an enthusiast goes up over time. Most people in the market for an E46 M3 currently, for example, would consider themselves enthusiasts. Anyone three years from now looking for a $25k track beater will absolutely want the CF roof, as will any 21 year olds who just scored his/her first job. E36s without sunroofs are practically unicorns, E46s without them are few and far between and command a price premium. Even if the CF on the e92 is far more prevalent in the model run than no sunroof was on E36/E46s, it will still be of greater value to the majority of buyers down the road. The same thing happens with interior/exterior colors (E46 buyers go nuts for AW/IR, SG/IR, etc...) and this is no different.

I'd prefer CF but either way it's badass! Love the 220m's on that M3! Good luck on your decision.

I would normally say the sunroof is a dealbreaker but the white M3 above with the black vinyl looks great too. I guess it depends on the color of the car. Mine is black so I barely even notice the CF.

Wow, too much CF Flavored Kool Aid juice being sipped around in this post. I guess my car is not a real ///M3. No CF roof, no CZP, no LCI....I guess having the S65 engine like most ///M3 owners in here isn't good enough anymore.

I ordered mine with a moonroof. I wanted it and I love it! Especially with the nice weather in Michigan right now. As mentioned by some who know what they are talking about, the moonroof is only a deal breaker if you don't want it. No reason to live with regret.

Good luck with your decision! You already made the best choice by picking the M3! I recently had my 1200 mile service and omg. This car is ridiculous.

Haha, yeah that's the exact decision I'm going through - a 2010 or order a 2012 and wait 3-4 months.

3-4 month wait? I was told 8 weeks ETA on a 2012 order... What dealership are you talking to?

From what I've been told on this forum, since orders have been going on for about two months now on the 2012s, there is a large queue of orders that needs to be filled. These orders will have priority over any new ones placed. So if we were to order in say September, the car might not even be built until Oct/Nov with delivery in Nov/Dec. That's kind of what is pushing me towards used.

Hmm let me check with my sales man on that for you. I have a guy over at South Motors and Braman BMW if anything. I don't know which would be closer to you.

Not everyone likes carbon fiber.

Having said that, I do not think it will impact the used market or impact the resale value of the car

To the op just buy what will make you happy.

Indeed . Personally I MUCH prefer sunroof (simple personal preference), but any smart buyer would be crazy (IMO) to let a good deal go because of roof preference, but to each his own. No way in hell I'd have passed on $17K savings if my car had C/F roof. And wouldn't pass either if it was $5K. There will always be buyers set on one or the other, but for what I've seen in many years, resale value has no effect on roof choice. Good day gang.

Weigh up how often you would use a sunroof vs how often you would use a CF Roof - My roof on my 135 was open almost daily. If you can notice a different between that and the CF roof (About 40 pounds) you should be driving F1's.
^this^
it also a function of what you want...

compare the M3 with a sunroof to audi and benz in the same class "with sunroofs"....you have to compare apples to apples,

You'll find 800 threads comparing CF/sunroof coupes to sedans to verts...
makes no sense to me...
i have a vert.... i didn't compare it to an M3 coupe or sedan, rather to audi and benz drop tops in the same class....M3 with the hard top made the most sense for me..
i get raged on for have a "slower" e93... "Yo... why'd you get the vert man!!!! is so much slower than the CF coupe!!"
and my anwser is always the same...."does the roof come of off the CF coupe ? (and go back on ) " "i WANTED a drop top... and of all the convertiables, this one is the best bang for the buck"

... if you "want/need" 4 doors then the choice is made for you...if you like/want a sunroof ... etc. ,etc.
good luck man... and the car looks great!!!

BTW what ever choice you make...you'll come home and say "shit! should have got the other one...DAMN IT!!!" sorry, but that is the truth

Thanks - hopefully the info I've heard is wrong, because that is what is tipping me towards used at this point.
