Not a huge fan of mulholland, but that's my favorite portion of the road. Usually avoid it though due to traffic and cops.
After that corner, there is a lookout where people tend to park for a bit, which would explain the crowd. BTW, we need to have a malibu canyon drive sometime soon. |

Nothing like a bit of racial/gender stereotyping huh?
There are probably elements of truth in all of those comments although generalising isn't something I'd be doing! Anyway poor driving indeed!

My house is a block away from Mulllholand, and i can hear someone slam into a curb almost every weekend at night. I always wonder why people ride bicycles or even go for a walk there, but nice video, thank you.

Thanks for the video link. It is amazing how reckless people are driving.
Someone made a comment that people on this board would fail just as bad. I think it depends on what you are talking about. As long as you don't outdrive the car and driver's capabilities, people would do fine. Did the Lotus hit the guard rail? |

Well, asian women generally don't go driving aggressively on canyon roads sooo....it's likely a bunch of persians and armos. Those guys can't drive for sh*t no exceptions. Oh hai guys look at my (parent's) new quattroporte...watch me try to drift it in this 35 mph zone in beverly hills.
In any case, Mulholland is a win at night. There's a new paved section if you head north up Benedict Canyon and head east at Mulholland. |

going uphill its a decreasing radius left hander with a blind late apex. they are crossing the double yellows at what they perceive to be the apex while also trying to account for being totally blind to oncoming traffic. they enter at too high speed for the tightening bend and then understeer right off the road. since its uphill hitting the brakes in a panic won't usually result in a spin.
mulholland hasn't been fun to drive in over a decade now with so much traffic on it. its just dangerous and stupid to drive it other than just as a cruise. actually that goes for most roads in the area. the cars here aren't bad compared to the number of sport bike riders that cross completely across the road in blind turns. i recommend to just go to buttonwillow or autoclub speedway or even an autocross and have way more fun in a safer environment. what is really sad i think is the insurance companies will cover these people for reckless driving but the careful folks that attend a driving school have a battle to fight if they have an accident.
