♦ Sonic MS | PSi "RaceLine" Performance Coilover System (RACE-SPEC | 2-Way )

Greetings Gents,

Just wanted to share some pictures and information of this suspension kit for the E92 M3 that we installed for our client's AW E92 M3.

PSi "RaceLine" Performance Coilover System (RACE-SPEC | 2-Way )

This kit consists of the following:
- OHLINS 36-INV Dampers (Front) w/ External Reservoirs | TTX 36-IL Dampers (Rear)
- Eibach ERS Springs ( 525F / 800R )
- Ground Control Spring Perches (Rear)
- Ground Control Camber Plates (Front)

Our client wanted the best suspension money could buy. As such - we opted for Performance Shock's new "RaceLine" suspension system for the BMW E92 M3.

This kit features OHLINS 36mm "Inverted" front dampers w/ external reservoirs and TTX36 "Inline" rear dampers and this confiugration allows for a 2-way adjustable setup with 1-way compression and 1-way rebound adjustment.

The inverted strut design, with large working cylinder diameter provides excellent lateral support while reducing friction.

The rear Ohlins TTX36 inline rear dampers utilizes an integral reservoir that makes it very compact and keeps internal pressure of the damper unit to a minimum. The end result is a low amount of hysteresis - translating to excellent short stroke / high force performance.

The Ohlins TTX range of shocks require very low gas pressure which considerably improves grip without any loss of damping performance.

Feature Benefit Summary:
- Extremely broad external adjustment range Front (20 clicks bump, 40 clicks rebound); Rear (22 clicks bump/rebound)
- Low internal friction
- Direct damping response / low N2 pressure
- Inverted 36mm front struts
- TTX36 Inline Rear Dampers
- Easy to access external adjustments

Included in the kit are the Rear Spring Perches and Front Camber/Caster Plates, manufactured by Ground Control.

The externally mounted reservoirs (front) allows for easy access for dampening adjustment.

In addition, custom rated helper springs (reverse mounted) are utilized to minimize stack height upon full compression in addition to pre-loading the primary Eibach ERS springs to prevent unnecessary movement and noise.

Here you can see the external reservoirs mounted securely inside the engine bay for easy access.

Next up - corner balancing and alignment.

And then we take it to the track this weekend at MFEST!!!

In case you missed the build - please reference the link below to the Sponsor's Project M3s section.

On PSI's website the retail price is $6795 - very competitive pricing compared to Moton CS, MCS 2-way, JRZ RS Pro...

Does the kit convert the rear to true coil over set up?

Mostly street or track car?

They offer both rear non-coilover and coilover setups. However, they recommend the use of the coilover setup only on cars with reinforced/caged rear shock towers.

This is not something that is recommended on the E9x platform unless weld in reinforcements are done at the rear shock towers.

The heavy springs will eventually tear the shock tower.

Many have said the same thing for the E46 M3 and running a full and true rear coilover. But it has been proven otherwise for quite some time, showing that theory is rather different than reality. I know of quite a bit of guys in the E46 M3 platform running true rear coilovers and simply using a small reinforcement plate on the rear shock mounts.

I wonder if the same would ever apply to the E9X M3...

A reinforcement plate is required to prevent an eventual tearing, cracking or weakening of the rear shock towers on the E46, E36 and E30 cars.

Sadly, I have seen a few of these failures in the past year and it is not a fun repair.

The ride is similar to KW Clubsport Setup. If anything they are a bit smoother.
