No options.

Just purchased an '08 E92. This car must be the least optioned car available. It has half cloth interior (speed cloth?), no Nav, no CD changer, 6 speed manual, no bluetooth. It is really a bare bones M car. Seems like it was built specifically to go racing. Was that the idea or is that just the way the original customer ordered it?

My car has no options either. It was on the lot "one at this price". Maybe that's how the original owner got his. Kind of prefer it. Spent the money on mods. Plus all you really need is a V-8 the rest of the crap will probably break any way.

Like a few people have already stated there are a lot on no, or low, optioned cars out there and I wouldn't be surprised if some were done intentionally to save weight. I know of one professional race team that turned a zero optioned e92 M3 into a race car after using it as a street car for two years.

I too like to drive a car with the least distractions. My M3 has no iDrive or mDrive. Simply a MT ... it does have a CD, advanced radio with Bluetooth etc.

I searched for the car and found it.

What more do you honestly need? My buddy's 335, fully optioned, cost more than my M. Who do you think regrets? He can't wait to drive mine. And I don't want to start a DCT/MT argument here, but.. in mine and only mine opinion, the MT is the only way to feel the car.

Totally agree, MT is all one needs. Also once the car is in motion who needs all the options except perhaps on the track to gain that fraction of a second over the other fellow I don't track my car.

If I want to play with all the electronic stuff I drive my wife's car our DD However, like you said I prefer to feel the road with my M. The attachment below describes better what I feel and like

Love all the tech, myself. But, I can see where someone would enjoy a stripped model, especially because those options are so damn expensive.

I bought a CPO E90M3. While it had $8k worth of options, I would not have cared if it had none. Even a stripper has all the options I need. I have a living room at home.

Bought mine bare bones as well (used), only CF roof and ipod adapter. I think it's great to have all the goodies but since mine is not a daily driver I didn't see the need. To each its own, my previous one (PY E46 M3) was bare bones as well with cloth seats which worked great in the summer Texas heat! Congrats!!

It's certainly an awesome piece of marketing spin. Whoever came up with that term to describe a cloth interior deserves a raise.

Yes, gotta hand it to those marketing guys to make it sound fast. Sounds like a fabric Wayne Enterprises might make and Batman would use for his cape.

+1. Some people think that option is really important and never want a stripper. I mean all i need is the V8, besides that, who cares?

+1 on the speed cloth. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do.

I don't MOD, so I got everything except DCT, I enjoy the hi tech gadgetry. I don't know a thing about modding, but if I did I'm sure I could of save some money and got better upgrades like exhaust, and EDC components with a stripper version.

I really just wanted to get into an "M" car again. Picked out the best condition car for the best price. I honestly didn't realize how few options it had until I got it home and started playing with it. It does have heated seats and a carbon fiber roof.

Judging by previous, heated threads on the idea of sparsely optioned M3s, it seems that no or low-optioned M3s are relatively rare. But I think they're awesome. And I also think it's awesome this thread is actually starting out in the opposite direction (rather than, "Who buys a no option M3? You must not have enough money to buy an M3" kind of comments )

As long as you have what you need & want, who cares.

EDIT: Congrats OP. Please post pics. I like spartan M3s.
