Which Blue 2011 M3?
I've got a coupe on order--for Euro delivery on 4/15/10. Noted with relief that pricing has not changed. Have ordered Interlagos blue with bamboo beige interior. Unfortunately, have not been able to see ether Interlagos blue or Le Mans blue in person--any strong opinions on which is nicer among those whe have seen both colors in person?
I plan on the 18" wheels. I know the Interlagos blue is supposed to have a purplish hue at times--difficult to appreciate on the small 6" paint sample that the dealer showed me. I find little difference between the 2 colors based on the samples, & internet pictures of the two colors are not all that different. I considered Jerez Black and Alpine White as well, but really think I would like one of the blues. I had an Avus Blue E36 M3 before I got my current E46 Titanium silver--I'm really tired of the silver (approaching 9 years old, and too many of silver cars around), so I don't think I want Silverstone (too similar). One of the blues would have been my top choice as well (I ended up getting AW again because I wanted to find an '09 for the financing). I love them both and I don't think you can go wrong with either because they are very similar, as you said. The Le Mans is a little bit lighter/brighter and less purplish.
If it were my decision, I too would be torn but would probably go with Le Mans because to me it looks like more of a pure blue, and it also seems to be a bit less common than IB for some reason.

LMB is now a regular E9X color as well so IB would be more rare.

Good thread OP!
I'm obviously biased for IB. Yet Lemans is also a great color. Honestly, I feel Lemans may be more of a vibrant color than than IB, but IB is more of a deeper/creative color. I feel that Lemans is slightly more of a youthful color, since it has more of the brighter blue within it. IB definitely looks like a 'blueberry' color during the sunlight. Though I have to admit that IB looks super aggressive in the evening time (when sunlight is dimming). Btw, I have IB and 18's, and it looks awesome! Here are a couple of my pics and a fly by vid of how my M3 looks on the move : [u2b]<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p2FEYbsCvsw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p2FEYbsCvsw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>[/u2b] |

Looks good...
Your IB sedan does look very nice. The more complex nature of the paint appeals to me, may add interest, but still would be great to see in person. Unfortunately the 2 nearest dealers to me 40 & 90+ miles away don't have either in stock. Will probably stick with IB unless something happens to change my mind in the interim. Not sure when I have to finalize my specs.

I actually wasn't even considering IB until I happened to see one on my dealer's lot. I changed my order the same day. LMB is a very nice color, and I like it a lot, but it doesn't wow me in the way that IB does. Another nice thing is that IB is exclusively an M color. If you can't see them in person, the best you can do is look at the hundreds of pictures online here to get a feel for how they look in different situations. Click on my sig picture for a link to a bunch of different pics of my car. The color has not been edited in any of the pics in that thread, so you'll get a pretty realistic idea of IB.

Both are nice, but of the two, I would take the IB.
I appreciate that is not much of a suggestion from an AW guy.

I went with LMB and think it is a great color on this car.. Nice bright blue and very sporty.
On an unrelated note, my number one choice in still Space Grey, but there were no '09s in my area with the features I wanted. So I have LMB and think it is the sportier of the two blues. |

I like the lemans blue more. To me, it is more of a true blue while IB can look purple or even black depending on the light. Up you I guess. If you are looking for a brighter colored car then go with lemans. If you want darker then go with IB.

My current 135 is LeMans Blue and I love it. It is definately "blue" with no hint of any other color in it. Under certain lighting conditions you'd be hard pressed to tell the two apart. But, as was stated above, the IB and some sun bring out much more color play and interest. Plus....it's M specific. Negative...a slight purplish tinge once in awhile, again dependent upon the light.
If IB and LeMans were both offered on the 135, I would have ended up with the LeMans despite the exclusivity of IB. Go with your heart. I've made 5 (yes 5) color changes over the past year while putting together my individual order for the new car which'll be ordered next week. And I'm ending up with what I sort of started with. What an idiot I am. But very happy now Hope that helps - Mark |

Hey Hoo-- I'll be there right after you. I'm doing ED on 22 April (LMB E93).
Not sure if it helps, but I had a Topaz Blue E46 (color was only available for one model year before they changed it to LMB I believe), and have observed that LMB is definitely closer to Topaz than IB is. If I hadn't owned one for several years, I would probably not immediately be able to tell the difference between LMB and TB. Last edited by kpao; 01-29-2010 at 04:55 PM.. Reason: typo |

Good point...IB is more rare overall. Although what I meant was that IB seems more common on the M3 than LMB. Maybe that's just it...because it's an M-exclusive color, more people choose it (and, of course, maybe they also prefer it). I do love M-exclusive colors.
I'll say it again, I love both IB and LMB and kinda wish I had one of them! To the OP, good luck with your decision. You really can't go wrong.

Think I'll probably stick with IB
Thanks for the input from all. I doubt I'll be able to see either blue in person any time soon. We live in small town and the nearest dealers don't to have too much in stock. Based on what I've seen on this board and elsewhere plus looking at color swatches, I think I'll stick with Interlagos Blue. Don't think I could go too far wrong with either color.

+1; I couldn't agree more, but since you can't get that color on the E9X (or can you?), I vote for IB. It's stunning in-person, day or night.
