heh

Yeah, or see Dogbone's 285/30-18 BFG R1-S on 10.5" ET27's which are just as wide as the hoosier

Why would you want to spend $395 per tire for MPSC2's though, unless your car came with them and you don't want to mess with a good thing? That's such piss-poor value for money IMO when the PS4S doesn't even give up that much dry performance to it at 2/3 the cost, and that's not even a track tire. An attractvie size is only attractive if it an attractive tire comes in the size

(285/30/18 R1S are even WIDER than 295/30/18 Hoosier and 295/30/18 Hankook TD. It's just damn wide! And blocky! I need a 3mm spacer to run the R1S 285 up front. I don't need a spacer for 295 A7 or TD. Crazy.)

How do you guys fit that in the rear?

Right now i have a 10.5 et27 with a 5mm spacer and a 275 r888r in the rear. On the outside, it rubs the fender liner.

I can't see how the 295/30 r888r i have will fit in the rear, even removing the spacer. It's so much wider! Now i'm scared

I've run a 295/35 NT05 before and it was fine, no spacer though and that was on OE suspension before I lowered the car. I think overall tire diameter and ride height will come into play here. You may also need to pull the spacers to maximize your outer width with the et27 offset wheels (as you mention).

Some interesting tire diameter (height) observations:
295/35R18 NT05 - 26.1" <- fits in rear on a 10.5" et27 EC-7 wheel w/OE suspension
275/35R18 r888r - 25.6"
295/30R18 r888r - 25"

Hope you can make it work as I really want to follow suit!! Planning on r888r 265/35R18 fronts and 295/30R18 rears if it works for you.

Some tires also run wide so it's hard to go by sizes alone.

Good luck!

I should have credited Richbot for that pic above with the monster Hoosiers on his car.

Yep, the BFG R1/R1S runs oversize a bit, but the main difference between it and say a Hoosier or NT01 is that it carries its section width all the way to the tread face. Essentially the section width is the tread width almost, so unlike those other tires which have a taper from the section width max to the tread, there isn't really one on the BFGs. Hence you run into rubbing issues simply due to the profile of the tire.

That's the thing... I am really lowered. In the rear, the metal of the fender covers 50% of the tire profile

We shall see! :/

I didn't do anything special to put the 295/30/18 in the rear. No spacer. But, it does mildly rub the fender liners. But I don't really care about that. The contact is generally incidental. If someone else is trying to preserve those pieces, then I guess it's a problem.

Why do you have a 5mm spacer with a 275?

If your car is sitting idle and the fender covers half the sidewall profile, that's quite a bit lower than my car. Probably more than 1 inch lower. Was there a specific reason the car was setup so low in the rear?

The 5mm spacer is to push the wheel more towards the outside so it is less likely to rub the neck of the fuel pipe on the passenger side

I was told to lower the car as much as I could without hitting the fuel pipe, so that's what I've done. Bimmerworld provided this feedback.

Aesthetically I am not into slammed cars at all.

My ride height is
Front 25 9/16
Rear 24 7/16

I'll take a pic of it when I leave work (brought it today) and post it tonight.

I generally refrain from posting vids/pics of my cars

295/30/18 Conti EC Sport sometimes rub very slightly on the outside on a stock camber E90M3 with 18 x 10.5 ET27 wheels and mild H&R springs with several passengers.

Wow, that's low (at least for what I thought track cars run), you sure this isn't with the air-bag suspension on "slammed!"

That's pretty low. Personally, I have never seen an M3 at the track setup that low.

I guess the next question is, what are your spring rates? Are you restricting suspension travel with stiff springs?

On my build thread, Richbot posted a pic of an M3 race car with little-to-no rake that was pretty darn low. You might even be below that. I don't know if you saw it, but I posted a comparison shot of my car with that car. Even with my car at that height, with the fat tires, I'm rubbing those liners.

I don't know where you track, but in California, there are several tracks that require quite a bit of suspension travel. Laguna Seca's Corkscrew, Thunderhill's Bypass, Buttonwillow's Phil Hill and the banked Oval at Auto Club----all these features are quite demanding on the suspension and usually require a fair amount of travel. I wonder how your car setup that low would handle features like that.

Of course, I am not a race shop, but I think you may find that if you want a wide tire in the rear, you may need to compromise by raising the car a bit. Or if you don't care about the body panels, you could roll the fenders out a bit. But even with rolling, that won't save the fender liners.

I would be interested to hear what is driving bimmerworld's guidance to go as low as you can in the rear.

They spoke in very clear terms that this was the way to go, that the e9x loved being as low as possible in the rear

Haven't used them yet. I expect NT01 style performance but they have tread which makes driving to and from the track a lot easier!

My first track weekend with the r888r will be VIR over labor day

You should see it when it's loaded up to go to the track with all my junk. The tip of the wheel disappears under the fender
