Installed sws-8x and JL xd600/1
Just replaced my premium audio's subs with the earthquake sws-8x (speakers), a JL XD600/1 (amp), and an AudioControl LC2i (loc).
First impressions: let me just say holy sound! The bass is phenomenal. What I hadn't realized is that the factory sub enclosures were not sealed but ported instead. So it's loud! In fact I had to turn the accubass and bass setting the lc2i all the way down before getting a chance to really tune it. I think this warrants installing the bass remote. Just not sure if I should hook it up to the amp or the loc. Alternatively, I'm curious how it would sound if I had sealed the ports. I'll post some pics soon...

I don't think those are ports on the stock woofer enclosures. Because they have a rubber weather-strip-type material on the end, I think the opening is to extend the enclosure volume into another (hopefully sealed) space. IMO, sealing the enclosure off would not provide enough volume for any 8" (sub)woofer to play properly.

The SWS aren't rated to take the 400w that 600/1 does all the time. You may be better off with a 400/4 running 2-channel.
Make sure the AccuBass settings are all off and fully counterclockwise. The JL knob is a little nicer. For better visual integration, we buy BMW volume knob covers for bass knobs... |
