I think in other states they have it every other year, some every year. In those states, it may be too much of a hassle. Here in socal, it's 5 years, and when the time comes, there are so many shops that willing to be lenient unless you're catless. Changing the full x-pipe is near the top of my list on mods to do on this car. The whole powerband gets 10-15whp, and the whole torque band gets 10wtq, and for like 1750rpm in the low end, you usually see gains of 15-20wtq, the only disadvantage is, for like 300-500rpm, right around 2-2.5k rpm, there's a torque loss compared to stock but IMO it's worth the gain and the extra sound. If you get a catless x-pipe, I'd for sure recommend a tune, otherwise that power dip in the low end will be much more dramatic compared to HFC's. Also, shop around and make sure you pick a quality x-pipe that's well designed. Most importantly, make sure they have a good record of perfect OEM fitment. From my experience, stay away from x-pipes that use clamps to bolt on to the headers, look for x-pipes that use the stock setup, bolts and flanges. It's a pain getting leaks when upgrading to an aftermarket x-pipe because your car will make less power than stock. Hope this helps.
