(H-pipe + X-pipe)
I know what the functions of both types of piping and how the x-pipe is more superior. i know Akra uses both on their GT4 system to eliminate the rasp and the low frequency caused by not having resonators and cats like they do on the evo system.
Now im thinking of testing it out. I have a challenge sport x-pipe with GT2 muffler, which is Freaking loud! so if i add and h-pipe right in front of the secondary cats same location as the GT4 to kill the low frequency, then adding two small resonators like in the Corsa exhaust in the connecting pipe. This theoretical should make the system less raspy and eliminating a lot of drone. step two will be changing my tips to 90mm ones and adding a valve system, in this part im thinking of adding a silencer for the tips without a valve. By this i would of created valved system with dual personality. BTW all this is my thinking, don't even know if its possible. I would like to hear from people that have tried the EVO and the GT4 and anyone who knows something about exhausts systems. Thank you for reading!

Someone actually did this and journaled it with pictures on the board not too long ago. I would search for that.
I am not sure but I would be careful or reluctant because I figure placement of the H and X pipe need to be in certain locations to eliminate the target sounds or rasp you want. You could potentially do it poorly where not only the sound is not great but you actually worsen scavenging and power. |
