I don't trust Blackstone anymore , because we saw outstanding reports and 500 miles later the S65 blew..
But..

If this was my Blackstone report I would replace my bearings ASAP !
Because your lead ppm looks really bad , and probably you are through the bearing lead layer .
Saw you have 140K miles on it and you have 24 ppm of lead , so...play the game safe .
In short....It's time !

I think whatever oil you are running is way too thin.

Lots of lead and iron for the miles too. How long was your oci?

If it was me I'd bite the bullet and throw in some BE's or VAC's.

You need more labs...I'd get a CBC w/diff, CMP, U/A, TSH, and an a1c....
That should help you figure out what's really going on...

Thanks for the feedback. I admit I was over due for a change. It was around 7600 miles on this change with
Mobil 0w40. I have about 280 miles now with the new oil and I'm not sure if I am willing to wait till say 3K for another report.

I am ashamed to say that I put on about 7500 plus miles with 0W40.

Black stone comments attached. My oci is not usually more than 5k but this time I went way over 5K.

I would change the bearings on that car, re-think the oil weight choice, and switch to 5000 mile intervals after the bearing change.

When I ran Mobil 1 0W-40, I had a jump in lead and iron (24ppm / 29ppm) when I ran it for 9500 miles (taken at 71k on the engine). I switched back to 10W-60 after 3 changes, and lead and iron were back to universal averages and have been since. I'm now at 117k miles, and they continue to hold steady. If this is your first interval with 0W-40, I wouldn't be too worried yet. Take another sample at a shorter interval just to keep an eye on it. One data point isn't enough.

Those BMW engineers must have been on to something when they chose 10W-60 as the recommended viscosity.

Yeah, too bad the general consensus is that the bearing tolerances are supportive of such a viscosity, hence this whole bearing situation....

Thanks for sharing. I've been running 0W40 for over 2 years now. Wish I had followed up with regular checks in case there was a detectable change.

My plan is to get this done within a week or two. I've read so much about these bearing issues and it is odd how it becomes a tough decision to choose which set to go with when it is time to do on my own car.

I ran 0w40 for 13k miles and as I've mentioned several times on the forums, the engine was noticeably noisier. After it blew a couple months ago I tore it down to the block and was shocked to find the combustion chambers coated with oily goo as were the top of the pistons. Worse than any engine I'd seen previously. You could scrape spoonfuls off. Not just regular carbon buildup. While I'm not positive, the amount of oil in there leads me to believe 0w40 may not be a great choice. The only real benefit imo is on cold starts, so I'm running a 5w50 now hoping for the best of both worlds.

I wonder if there is a preventative engine cleaning procedure to address this? Do you or anyone know?

There is such a thing as an engine flush. You can have it done between oil changes. They empty the old oil, fill it up with a concoction of chemicals and cleaners, idle it for a period of time, then drain and refill. Not sure if it'd do anything for the buildup in the cc's, but it'll clean up the pump, cooler, lines, pan, etc.

I totally agree with this. I think they just imported it from BMW e46 M3 without doing more study on it.
