Aftermarket X-Pipe vs. OEM modded X-Pipe? Gains?
Hey Guys,
I don't know if this question has been asked, I know the whole test pipes vs. aftermarket X-Pipe gains question has been asked a bunch but this is a little more in depth. Hopefully this isn't a noob question. I am thinking of either buying an aftermarket X-Pipe or either keeping my current X-Pipe and throwing test pipes on there and deleting the secondary cats as well. My question is, If i were to do Test Pipes and a secondary cat delete, will I have the same HP gain in comparison to an aftermarket X-Pipe? If an Aftermarket X-Pipe will gain more HP, how much and how? Thanks! (Aftermarket X-Pipe I keep bringing up are X-Pipes with no Cats and possibly resonators on them to decrease drone). I went the test pipe route....I wish I had kept my Oem pipe in tact because now I have to weld cats back on for emissions. If your state has emission testing just keep the oem and buy a top speed x pipe. They are u.s made and if you aren't racing the car, there's no point of spending 5k on akra or titanium exhaust.

Or buy an oem x-pipe with test pipes already welded on. You can swap back to your old one.
Not sure how much power the secondary delete actually gives. Something I am looking into myself. If you can afford the additional $$ and are ok with being catless (increased sound and smell over primary-only delete), go full xpipe. that way you will know you aren't missing anything. Alternatively you can make your own by picking up an oem x pipe with test pipes (or without) and gutting the cats. So you have one street legal, one race set up. Remember that this is only to be used with off-road racing vehicles

aftermarket pipe is generally lighter/louder as it deletes the secondaries where test pipes only eliminates primaries. performance difference is minor on an NA car.

Just picked up an oem pipe with the secondaries removed using straight pipe for $175. Worth it to keep my stock pipe intact and i can remove the primaries down the road if i choose to get a tune.
