Dealer Called this morning !

So I woke up to some semi-good news !

My dealer called and said they were going to get their first allocations next week.. and that they wanted to give me an update. They stated that these allocations are for a January build, March delivery. My question is "is this standard for all US dealers" i think i've heard some threads saying some have already put in their alllocations and may possibly receive a feb. delivery. I dont know how valid this may be because I dont think anyone has received an order number yet.

Lastly, they said they'd receive about 22 allocations for the year, i'm wondering is this realtively low?

anyone out there in California, specifically socal who has received confirmed allocations and order numbers yet, or are we all still playing the waiting game...

Others have been given allocations and orders registered in the system, but as far as I know, no US customer has a production number or build date as of now. So, what you've been told makes sense to me.

Interesting news, maybe i should call up my dealer and ask him about allocation numbers.

Has everyone else been given allocation numbers?

I don't think there is such a thing as an allocation number that is passed onto the customer. The key thing is the production number. That should allow you to track your car on the website and get an idea as to when it will be produced.

o, so what the OP meant was that his dealership is getting 22 produced cars that year?

It sounds like it. I guess that depends on the size of the dealership, but 2-3 cars per month per dealership is probably a realistic expectation.

I hope so, because i read somewhere that M3's are sold out for 2 years in the UK and Australia. Can anyone confirm this?

I also spoke to my SA today...he stated the same thing January build & delivery in March he'll call me again as soon as he gets a little more info more towards mid-end of December...1st car goes to Dealer Owner, 2nd To #1 on Wait List, 3rd Car to ME ME ME!!!! I asks what the likelyhood of getting my car during the first allocation & he said the its likely since they are such a big dealership, but ultimately its all up to BMWNA, but he'll let me know for sure in December...but there are no production #'s or orders for anyone as of yet b/c its too early...

They will most likely sell about 10000 cars in the US the first year. If think there are 366 dealerships in the US, that means about 27 cars per year per dealership on average.

I'm #2 on my dealer's list, as well. I may pass and wait for DCT, though.

Who's your dealer in SoCal?

I use Bob Smith in Calabasas, and due to my current S4 lease (expires in 11-08) I will be ordering my M3 in June for a September delivery.

Sounds like part of the US delay is so that DCT can be offered at launch. You might get it from the get go after all.
