I too go to usd, to answer your question about night life and that sort; it really depends on your age. If you’re not 21 yet you will spend 95% of your time in mission beach, the same as most undergrads @ USD do. Most students that go to USD that don’t live on campus live at the beach. There are a couple of bars in Mission Beach too. Usually Thursday nights is a good time to go to the bars by the roller coaster in Mission Beach. Now if you want to meet other people” not from USD” I might suggest Pacific Beach on Tuesdays, and the weekends in terms of bars and stuff. I haven’t really experienced downtown that much so I will let others comment on that. Just expect to pay a lot.

Just caught this thread. I live DT SD. There are a ton of awesome canyons around here. Palomar actually is quite boring and overcrowded. Let me know if anyone is down for a canyon drive. Word of advice though, I have all corners memorized, I'm an ex P-car track freak and used to own and race real race cars so please don't try and hang with me in canyons, just drive your own pace and line. I just don't want anyone to crash. Feel free to PM me, etc. Enjoy SD. I know I do coming from LA for law school and never leaving many years ago.

I don't live in SD, but used to work in Vista; about 100 miles from my home, and about 50 to 60 miles from downtown-if I'm not mistaken.
Like someone mentioned, there is the drive to Julian on HWY 79. It's a beautiful drive, and a beautiful little town. I used to go to Coronado Island. The hotel is the best place to enjoy an afternoon sunny day, while drinking a Mojito. The beach is just down right paradise. I like downtown SD; so many restaurants to choose from, and bars, etc... G/L on your move and schooling. |
