Removing oem spoiler my self.

I'm removing the oem spoiler my self in order to install the competition CF spoiler.

Is a heat gun and the fishing line required in order to remove the spoiler?... I don't have either so I'm trying to figure out if I need to go get that stuff or are there alternatives?

Or dental floss. You don't have to heat it but it helps. Then goo gone or something for the tape residue.

Careful with goo gone it can eat clear coat I believe. Dental floss or fishing string. Then use 3m adhesive remover and an old credit card. Use the adhesive remover in 3-6" sections at a time. In other words don't spay the whole damn trunk down. 3-6" section sprayed and cleaned, keep moving your way across until finished.

Thank you so much for the detail instructions!. I will get the 3M adhesive remover and do it a bit a time like you mentioned.

dental floss works, but it breaks easily. Fishing line works like a charm. I've removed 2 and never used a heat gun, although i'm sure it would help with removal of leftover adhesive and residue.

Dental floss breaks easily, but way safer than fishing line. Took a lot of patience and letting it sit in the sun for an hour and then while I was removing it to get the damn thing off. As far as taking the tape residue left behind off 3m adhesive removal is the best, 10x better than goo gone.

Floss kept breaking or me so I just used the floss case as a wedge and kept moving if further up as I cut the adhesive with a thin sharp knife. The car was siting in 85 deg weather for over 10 hrs before i started so it only took about 15 min to remove. 3M adhesive remover was then used for the left over on the trunk.

Fishing line doesn't do any damage. Any surface marring (which can happen with floss as well) can easily be removed with a little polishing compound. Took me la few minutes to remove mine with fishing line. Removing left over adhesive is a little more time consuming.
