07-09 GT500 vs E92M
Not sure if I'm in the right place for this, but I know there's a few people who've done the switch from a GT500 to an M3 and I'm curious as to what your thoughts are? I'm thinking of making the same switch. I currently have an 09 GT500 and looking at selling it for an E92M. Thoughts?

How do you drive your GT500? Do you like track days? Drag racing? From a driving perspective, the M3 will be slower in a straight line than the GT500. But the M3 is a much more "balanced" platform and is an absolute joy to drive through the twisties. The M3 has the advantage (IMHO) in the fit, finish, and looks categories. Now if you're into modding, GT500 mods seem to have a much better $ per HP ratio. The M3 aftermarket is pretty pricey overall.
I don't have any personal experience with the GT500, but as a relatively recent M3 driver, I would have to say that the M3 is the best all-around car I've driven. If you can deal with the relative lack of torque/HP, I believe that you'll be happy with the switch. |

I was just curious if anyone had made the switch and can let me know what I'm gonna be missing from my GT500 (if I will miss anything). |

Yours is the 500 hp version?
It's possible you could miss the engine grunt and characteristics, some straight line acceleration. In every other category the E92 is a clear winner. And even when it comes to the engine/power -- I'll take 414 hp and an 8400 rpm redline over 500 supercharged every day. That's a personal preference. But if autocross is your priority, I'd consider something lighter to be honest. E92 isn't bad for that application, but you'll have much more fun with it on a road course.

It'll be an upgrade in every way except for low end torque. If you can handle not having mountains of torque on demand at any RPM then you should find the M3 to be much more car than your GT500. Interior, handling and especially driving dynamics are all win.
