Question about variation in orange peel

I noticed today when washing my interlagos blue M3 that the orange peel on the rear bumper is a little different than the orange peel on the rear quarters and trunk. I can't tell what the orange peel on the front bumper looks like because I have a clear bra on it. I assume this slight variation is normal because my car is brand new, but can anyone confirm? Thanks.

Yes the orange peel on the bumpers is different from the rest of the car.

Has nothing to do with age of car or the location on the car. Orange peel is different everywhere it is. They basically spray on too thick of coats to save them time and money from spraying a lot more really thin coats. Thick coats come with orange peel because the paint dries "bumpy". Every orange peel will be a little different based on how thick it was, gravity working on that spot etc

"Orange peel" difference also can be attributed to the clear bra material. Some paint protection films on the market have more orange peel than others and the installation flaws can create marks that resemble orange peel.

Thanks for the info. I actually don't have any film on my rear bumper so that's not it. I do, however, have ventureshield on my front bumper but it looks great.

In general bumpers have more peel than other panels because of angles etc..

You wanna see flat paint, take a look at a Bentley. Most impressive i've seen come through my shop.
