My car isn't even run in yet and I don't have this amount of lag, not even close to that. The one thing I am totally 100% sure of is that the lag is determined by the amount of throttle and how quickly the revs are climbing.... as should be the case.

The only time was I see anything like a decent amount of lag is with next to no throttle applied, and this is basically the same regardless of which mode is chosen, by it S1 or S5.

M now stands for marketing, period! Get a C63, the shifting in the C63 might be faster than the M's DCT! I kid I kid...am I? (Hope I don't get flamed. )

Ugh, the actual shift time is ridiculously fast. The lag deals with the cars reaction before shifting not with the actual shift. Kindly know what you are talking about.

Yea I guess, but what I mean is the time it takes for both cars to shift after you shift will probably be the same; M3 lags after you shift and C63 will have slower shift time, so basically the same speed. Just a thought...

It could be that the gearing with 7 speeds takes better advantage of the powerband, not to mention the quicker shifts. Which is why the DCT spanks the manual, but I guess that is for show?
.... yah if it works. but hey ur right at least DCT has a sense of humor and jokes with u... 6MT is a tad too dry... always serious and ready to do work. sucks

Uh, you are still accelerating until it shifts, it just does not just stop and sit there. So... what you said makes no sense.

No, because the shift is still super quick, the lag is between the movement of the paddle and the actual shift, not the speed of the shift...Dig?

I know but what I am trying to say is...; for example...

M3: press paddle .5 secs then shift .3 secs so = .8 secs

C63: press paddle .3 secs then shift .5 secs so = .8 secs

So the total times are the same.

M3 is accelerating during the (say) .5 s but not during the .3 s
C63 is accelerating during the .3 s but not during the .5 s.

Which would you rather have?

Just FYI the numbers in reality are much more like:
M3: .1 s / .03 s
C63: .1 s / .2 s

Again which would you rather have (purely from a transmission and acceleration point of view)?
