Interesting, I didn't know this could be done. Anyone mind sharing a rough cost estimate? Since pretty decent wheels can be had for $1000-1200 a set (and keep resale value) this would have to be pretty low to make it worth it IMO.

1" of properly penetrated weld will hold 20,000psi. FYI if anything is properly welded the material will always fail before the weld.

A few of you asked about the cost, its about $250 per wheel. I see a ton of cars that are tracked that do this with no problem. As Raptor said, if done properly the material fails before the weld.

For those who are wondering if this is safe, possible or reliable, this is a perfectly fine solution to wider wheels. It has been done time and time again without issues.

I have personally widened wheels of my own without any issue on cars that have over 700 RWHP that were either dragged or road course raced.

I personally would not have had the wheel widened the way tintboy had his wheels done. The safer and proper approach is to weld on a wider rear blank instead of adding material in between to acheive the width.

19x11 ET37.5 and 19x10 ET25 have the same outer clearance.

Your method of calculating wheel offset is correct. I was not disagreeing with you.

However, it is possible to misunderstand. Some may understand it as width does not affect fender clearance when in fact it does. Only in this case where the wheel is being widened from the inside it does not affect wheel clearance.

I noticed alot of the AM wheels that are out there for 19X11 are ET33. This sounds like to me I may need to run a 5mm spacer to get a little extra clearance..what you think Malek. I am really getting ready to go this route or a set of Forgestars in 19X10 and 19X11. Just love the look of the ZCP wheel yet the added width and aggressive offset would just be icing on the cake.

Adding 1" to the inner side of the rim would change the wheel from 19x10 ET25 to 19x11 ET38
