Buying an online company?

So today I hit my head on the toilet seat and thought to myself. How about purchasing an online company. So I googled it and rummaged around to not really find a damn thing. So I was just wondering what needs to be done in purchasing an online company that provides "entertainment services." And no it's not porn.

It's a Texas Hold 'Em poker site. I can see a high revenue potential. Thus me asking the immediate question.

It should be similar to buying any service type business.

What you are buying is called "good will", basically the rights to continue running that same business.

So that of course leads to numbers, what is the business making (money), how is it making it, will those same numbers exist (improve/decline) if the "seller" leaves that business, what tangables are there and what are their values, what are the expenses, can you do (or affordably hire out) what the guy selling the business is doing, what is the competition, is it legal (poker), will it become illegal (over regulated soon), why is he selling, are the employees good, what state (country) is it in (need to relo), can you recreate (rather than buy) that business for cheaper and so on and on.....

I have read, but can't remember where now (sorry) that online gambling of all sorts is going to come under increasing attack (taxes/regulation) as the government looks for revenue. Plus the Dems just want to get into everyones business too. Online gaming would not be a bet I would take right now. You may be buying something that will not exist soon...

Well, the market is pretty much dominated by PartyPoker, Pokerstars and Full Tilt. And this is a business where you really need scale to survive. I would expect it will be tough to come up with a value. One way to approach it would be to look at the cost of starting a similar business.
