UPDATE : Just Installed 8000K D1S HID Bulbs on my E93 M3!!!

Two weeks ago I made a post about installing my 6500k D1S bulbs, the look was nice but not so different from the stock 4300k. So I went back to www.xenondepot.com and I purchased 2 8000k D1S - in my opinion, they look so a lot better then the 6500s!

Here are a few pics....what do you guys think?

the first few pics were taken while the swap was being done, the left headlight(DRIVE SIDE) is the 6500k, and the right headlight (PASSNEGER SIDE) is the new 8000k.

(**Not the best pics, they were taken with my BlackBerry Bold**)

Are you sure that in the first few pics, the right side is the 8000k? It looks like the left is the 8000k and the right is the 6500k. 8000k is an ice blue color.

Yes, when I said right side - I meant passenger side headlight!

So to clarify,
The passenger side headlight is 8000k
The driver side headlight is the 6500k

I want to do this mod too but with the bad quality pics it's hard to tell. Can you repost pics (when you get a chance) with something a little more clear?

That looks good pretty hot! I like it a lot better than stock. Did you do your angel eyes too, or are they stock?

I want to do the angle eyes in an HID kit and saw that Camaross305 has designed one but I want to wait to see what the reliability on that kit is.

Lookin' good Slammed, lookin' good. Keep up the good mods!

haha...thats nothing! this was only a small snowfall and half of it melted when it rained the next day...however, it then got really cold and it all froze over!

I'll take some pics when we get a real snowfall here (15cm +)

Not hard at all, you can do it from the wheel well.
Why would moisture be a problem? your just changing the bulbs here!

I did some shitty bulbs to my angel eyes, but I got HIDs for my angel eyes, and now I am awaiting my circuit from Camaross305 to do the install!

I will post pics and let you know once it is installed!

Meh. Looks way too blue, not to mention how much light you are losing on the road. Pass.

Put 8000k in my AMG, you can certainetly pick it out of a crowd on cars coming down the Hwy. Does shorten the lighting wave length for night driving though!

PS. Have noticed how the signage on the road side now shows up as alot brighter?

6k is already pretty blue. i dont know why you want blue-er. 8k is too much IMO. and they are killing the light output. OEM is de best! 4300k!!

I have to disagree, but thanks!
I hate the look, but it works well in the winter. I miss my 20's

6k wasn't too different from the OEM 4300k.
I don't like OEM , once they warm up - they look white. just bright white!

Sorry, I sold them the same day I swapped them!
I can hook you up maybe with a new set if you like.

6000K is already a 20% reduction in light output. I don't know what the lumen output for the 8000k is but I'm sure you lost a lot of light output by going with that.

OP, did you have to take off the wheel to install? Does anyone know if there is a DIY anywhere on installing the D1S?

Nope, just turn the wheel and reach in!
But mine was done on the hoist!
