Guess what happened!

UPDATE: Called buyer today and told him what happened he said he still wants it... because it has the packages, color, interior he wanted. He told me he is going to track it a lot and thats a good thing to see my car where it is suppose to be.

Well not really sure what happened. LSD is loose on one side or axil damaged/broken idk. Had it towed to dealer and waiting for a call. Looks like I am in the club with the few of you with the similar issue, maybe JuniorM3? Not sure. I was driving normally the burr burr burr... made me go wtf? Glad I closed the deal with the buyer though lol. Told myself I better sell it before any more issues pops up. This happened on the way back from the test drive. Buyer had no idea (I had no idea at the time), told him maybe it was low on oil since I have 17mi left according to the computer. Sold it with 23,329mi and one frontal collision accident for $53,000. I think its a good deal on my end. Anyways its 4am... damn good night.

I presume you will tell the buyer what happened and that it is being fixed before you actually take their money. Shouldn't matter to him (likely) but it would be pretty shady if you didn't IMO. Especially if he becomes a member here and then reads this thread

I agree, you need to tell the buyer about the diff and/or mount failure. Based on your comment about the deal being done before something else failed makes it sound like you will not tell the buyer.

1) i think your attitude completely sucks.

2) buyer should have done a ppi.

3) one person here seems selfish, the other seems foolish.

This is why I am reluctant to buy a used car. As a general comment, it's not the car, it's the seller that concerns me.

That sucks. Did you ever have an aftermarket exhaust on or did you do any suspension mods?

Looks like the diff came off the subframe on one side.

These types of threads freak me out so bad that I just put my car on ramps to check the two 18mm bolts that hold the diff to the subframe - no issue. Takes 5 mins to check - just an FYI.

In each reported case of a failure like this here on m3post, the person has had an aftermarket rear section exhaust. I can't believe that a shop would forget to put the nut back on the bolt, or not tighten the hell out of it. People routinely remove these bolts to drop the hangers on the exhaust vs. pulling the exhaust out of the bushing.

The diff isn't broken, just replace the bolt and tell the buyer the truth.

If you don't want issues it's simple: Buy new or CPO. How many people really buy the whole 'Regretful sale, no issues, moving overseas' BS most people post when their car is for sale.

not telling the buyer really sucks.

This is the first issue that came up other than the dealer not doing the oil change correctly at around 20k mi when oil sprayed all over the engine bay. After that incident I wanted to sell the car. Obviously I am going to tell the guy the new problem but i am sure he is dead set on the car regardless of this problem. Didnt want him to feel nervous feeling that he broke my car or something during the test drive. So until I find out what it is I will tell him. He's a friend of my friend why would I want to screw him over? I told him how much i wanted and all the problems and he said ok

Garage List
$53,000 for a 23,000 miles car that was in a previous frontal collision with at least no Tech Package (or even the new standard MDrive) AND with this new thing broken??

EDIT: + oil sprayed all over the engine bay

A fool and his money....

You'd better tell him, only right thing to do.

Be honest with yourself. If you are not, it will come back and hunt you; or what goes around comes back and bite you in the rear end

1. Give money back to buyer

2. Get car fixed

3. Trade car in and get new car

4. Post Vin# so no one on forum will buy car end of post.

Never modded the car. Called buyer today and told him what happened he said he still wants it... because it has the packages, color, interior he wanted. He told me he is going to track it a lot and thats a good thing to see my car where it is suppose to be. Btw this is a guy that gets a new car every 3 months and has an accident almost every month said by himself and my friend. Hell he learned how to drive manual two hours prior to test driving my car from my friend. If anything he could of been responsible for the diff being damaged/loose by stalling and bucking the car past 10-20 times. Plus he redlined in first gear and held it there for a good few seconds before shifting into second and dropping the clutch after the rpm dropped below 2500-3500. Told him I will let him drive hard it if he buys it and he agreed. His budget was 200k USD from his mom... I told him to get a turbo but he likes my car better == He wants it at that price then I will sell it at that price.

Why does this remind of the scene in Transformers where Sam goes to the used car lot to pick out a ride, which ends being Bumble Bee. 

Anyway, don't be a shady salesman, tell the guy the real deal about the price/problems. I would never pay that much for a used car with that much baggage.
