ESS 535 supercharger
parting my e92 M3 car out and selling my beloved ESS VT1-535 supercharger. With this ran a 2:12 time at Watkins Glen and given I am a poor driver, it had to carry a heavy load with me driving. When I first put it on, it scared me How else can you add over 120 hp to our e9x M3's for only $4500. Much more cost effective than anything else. Manifold is a very pretty gloss back with blue ESS letters on it. Note: there is a scoff mark just in front of the E on the lettering ( see close up).... mistakes happen. Also a scoff on part of the vortex gloss paint. Kit in good physical conditions, new filter, belt looks great. But it has been used for a couple of years. Note: you will need new software from ESS as kit is pinned to my VIN number. http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...r/ESSgroup.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...ESScloseup.jpg

550 has slightly bigger pulley on the supercharger and does 5 psi instead of 4.5 psi. gives 15 more hp. ( plus ~ 135 hp instead of plus 120) you can buy the update pulley and make this a 550. ask ESS when you order the s/w.

cheaper
In my opinion, as you go up in power levels you put more risk on the engine internals and the engine runs hotter. I think the risk is okay up to the 625 kit. 535 and 550 are almost exactly the same.. The non-intercooled kits 535, 550, & 585 also do not block part of the radiator ( engine runs cooler) and have less cutting of the bumper and thus are easier to install.

550s have a slightly smaller pulley than 535s. That is basically the only difference. In fact I purchased a "late model 535". I inquired about the 550 when it came out and was told to check the size of my pulley. Turns out I already had the 550 pulley. Apparently some later 535 kits came with the 550 pulley and prior to that, the smaller pulley was offered on the 535 as an option.
The 585 uses the same heat exchanger as the more extreme kits. Good luck with sale...... the 535/550 is the best ESS kit IMO.

Nope, Still $4500 or best offer.
Person wanted a 625 or 650 ( but may change his mind).

Dropped the price to $4300 and included shipping in the price ( to most locals)

You can update to the 550 when you buy the tune from ESS. I don't think it's very much.
If I wasn't turncoating to an F80 I would be all over this. Sweet manifold. |
