There used to be a good free service (www.ais-live.com), but now they charge. The only service that I've found which covers panama appears to be www.vesseltracker.com. You need to register, but there is no charge. The data is up to 2 hours old, so catching sight of the ship on one of the webcams will be tough.

It hasn't shown up on Vesseltracker yet which means that it's not close to the Panama coast.

According to this site: http://www.boydsteamship.com/conteni..._booking17.htm

It's due into the canal tomorrow morning and slated to transit the following day.

According to the Port Hueneme website it's scheduled to unload there on 6/30.

Assuming that all of the above is correct then priority 1 cars should be heading for dealers as soon as 7/2.

The bummer is that Palmela (which transited Panama today) is due into Port Hueneme on the 30th also. According to the Hueneme schedule that ship is carrying BMWs as well so there may be another boatload of cars getting in line ahead of us.

Morning Cedar is back on the Vessel Tracker system showing up off the eastern side of the Panama Canal, probably getting in line/cue for the crossing.

Looks like about 5-5 1/2 days to CA. I'll guess (hope) MC will be off Port Hueneme by the end of the day on the the 27th. Hopefully unloaded on the 28th.

After its Panama port call at Colon it looks like the MC has moved off the coast to get in the passage que. Found a site that stated "On average, a vessel will take between eight to ten hours to transit the Canal, waiting time for passage about 24 hours" plus approx 1600 nautical miles to LA or about 4 days @ MC rate of 18 NMH. This rate worked out well on its Transatlantic passage about 10.5 days - as it left South Hampton on the 10th.

Next Customs and BMW Vehicle Delivery Center. With some luck the vehicles are ready for pickup at our dealers sometime the week of July 12th - sooner would be a great surprise!! I think it would be a miracle to get them before the 4th of July or even that first week of July - but I'll take it if it happens.

As much as I want to believe that it will show up at Port Hueneme early I don't think we'll be so lucky. 8 - 9 days from the canal exit to port seems to be the norm. It will be fighting a very strong current up the coast and that may slow it down significantly.

Although I really want the delivery miracle (getting the car by July 4th weekend) I know that likely won't happen. The fastest I've witnessed is 5 days from arrival at the VPC to arrival at the dealer.

I wish the PLEIADES LEADER thread was as interesting as this. It's now near San Diego and the last time I've seen it was @ BREMERHAVEN.

Awesome vid!

I was going to try and do the same but my internet connection at the office was much too slow to get the shots to reload without missing 3-4 at a time.

PALMELA, another car carrier from Bremerhaven bound for Hueneme, moored at Long Beach this morning. This ship transited Panama last Sunday so it's looking like a solid 6.5 - 7 days from Panama to SoCal right now.

MORNING CEDAR is on the Hueneme schedule for 6/30 and based on a 6/22 Panama transit I'm betting that it will actually show up overnight on the 28th or very early on the 29th.

For those of us hoping for a dealer arrival by the weekend every extra minute counts.

Hopefully it's not out in the pacific doing donuts in order to kill some time. If I could pick up my car on the 5th that would be perfect.
