I have the opportunity to get my hands on a '89 e30 M3 Evo Sport in really good condition, the guy wants about $20k, is the car worth It for collection?

All input appreciated, thanks

Maybe. Depends on mileage and condition, maintenance history, etc.

If the mielage isnt outrageous and the car is original and in good condition 20k is an absolute steal for an evo. Jump on it, the ultimate m3.

if over 90k miles, and the engine hasn't been worked on, then don't. It cost about half of that to rebuilt the engine; maybe more.
But I would love to get my hands on one of those.

The father of the M3. Ditto to the above.

I love E30s, but it all depends on the condition of the vehicle... Pics? More info?

Sorry but when the guy showed me the car, I was so into checking the car over that I didn't take pics. The clock read 68k miles on it, when I did a search on auto check, it stated that the car had 4k less miles in '03 or something. I think that he turned back the clock or other.

The engine had some signs of glycol corrosion on some areas, not as clean as it should be for that car and the interior had some repairs on the rear leather seat. Other than that, the car looked very clean, question is, is it worth the time and $ to restore it, is it that collectible?

Thanks and sorry for the lack of pics, I kick myself in the arse for not taking any, will try and see if he will show it to me again.

for 20k on a e30 NO WAY.... or shall i say FAWK NO ... the only way your going to get your money back if selling that 20-30 years from now... maybe your lucky if you get 25k right after you buy that... mostly likely NOT...

Are you in the US? Sport Evo E30s weren't sold here (or even imported on the gray market.) Any history of the car?

That's the funny thing and why I'm asking and thinking it over a lot, the spoilers and gear show it to be and yes, it is a US model in miles and such. I looked it over in a M3 book that I have and it looked just like it, I guess the only way to be shure is to check the VIN with factory.

The repairs were on the upper part against the glass like if it was sun damage or other.

Thanks

If it is a 1989 it is not a real "Sport Evo"... Need pix to verify.
