Need some opinions on wheels and tyres-

Hey,

I've bought some kW clubsports and AP racing brakes and need new wheels as my ARC-8 won't fit.

Due to limited tyre sizes available in the UK, would like to find some opinions on the following-

EC-7 18x10 +25 run Michelin PPS -275x35x18 and use the 10mm spacers I bought or go the short spring option possibly as I'm really not a fan of spacers.
Or
EC-7 Front 18x10 and Rear 18x11
Michelin Cups tyres Front 265x35x18 and Rear 285x30x18 or 295x30x18

However there is a small chance the EC-7 might not fit the brake kit as it's never been tested unless the barrel clearance is the same as the TE37 9.5 x18 +22.

Someone is selling actually selling the only few pairs of TE37s in the UK and these will 100% fit the BBK.
Volks TE37 front 18x9.5 +22 rear 18x10.5 +20
Tyre choice- Michelin pilot cups front 265x35x18 with rear285x30x18 or 295x30x18

I love the square set up and would prefer to run the PSS due to cost and I can get hold of the 275x35x18 the quickest, however the Volks are my favourite wheels but I'm not sure the tyre size are better then running the EC-7 10/11inch set up.
If it was you, which would you go for and why?

Cheers

My first question is what are you using the wheels/tires for? Street or track. PSS is a street tire and PSC is a track tire. Very different tires and you seem to be viewing them as interchangeable, which is not the case.

My experience has been that you need tons of camber to fit 10mm spacers with et25 wheels. I set my camber at -2.8 and it was insufficient with 10" et15 wheels and 275/35/18 BFG Rivals. PSS are an easier tire to fit but you will still need a ton of camber - like -3 or more. I would go with the shorter spring if you want to install this wheel/tire and run it on the street. Some people us 5mm spacers but I have not been able to make that work. I had 10"et18 wheels with 275/35/18 PSS and they barely fit (and I even observed black marks on the springs from them grazing it under load).

This option will have the same issue in the front but you may be able to get away with a 5mm spacer with the 265/35's. The other issue is that 30 series tires in the rear are a full 1" smaller diameter than OEM. If you want to run 295/30/18's you might as well run 19" wheels and run 295/30/19's which are very close to the OEM diameter. I would consider going this route to run R-comp tires on the track, most of which are not available in 295/35/18 (PSC, Hankook TD's, etc) but it doesn't make sense on the street IMO.

PSS is available in 265/35/18, 275/35/18 and 285/35/18. It is not available in 295/35/18. I don't run Volks because the rear offsets are too agreesive to run 295/35/18's which are my preferred rear tire size. That being said, if you are looking for a street set-up then PSS are one of the best available. I would consider TE37's with 275/35/18 front (or 265/35/18 for an easier fitment) and 285/35/18 rear. The fronts may require a 3mm or 5mm spacer to clear your coilovers (unless you do a spring swap). The spacer is not 100% required but you will see some black marks on your spring after use. PSS is not a good track tire, if you are looking for something to use on the track then I would look at alternative tires.

Yeh I know the PSS and cups are different but I've used both and the PSS on track are brilliant I think, I rate them highly, not cup good but for the cost it's a better all rounder for sure.

Tyres wise I just ment with the choices I have which would be the best fit and combination of tyre.
I've used cups on the road and I can just about live with them due to the wear rate, grip on the wet is ok but I just take caution on standing water.

It's a street/track car and will be entering a time attack club challenge event next year so either would be fine as both would separate the class.

In the UK we don't get the sizes you have over in the states hence my problem.

Available in uk are as follows- PSS - 275-35-18, 295-35-18
Cups -265-35-18, 285-30-18 , 295-30-18

I've ordered the shorter springs because after posting I did abit more reading and I think my only option is to run EC-7 10/11 +25 275-35 and 295-35 PSS as long as the BBK will fit.

However my plan for the Volks was so I didn't have to run spacers or shorter springs but the PSS don't come in 265-35 only the cups do and the rears, well both tyres don't come in 285-35-18 over here.

What do you think slicer?

Are you sure about your tire size availability? Michelin does not make a 295/35/18 PSS. They make that size in PS2 but not PSS. If they made a PSS in that size I would have bought them years ago. I have checked their web page...

The Volks will not work with 295/35/18 rear tires. They will work with 285/35/18 rear tires. In the front 275/35/18 might work without spacers on an 18x9.5 et22 wheel. It will probably fit on the car without rubbing the spring but be very close. You will then see black marks on the spring after use. Some people wouldn't worry about that.

Last I heard Apex is not making the EC7's in 11" anymore (or at least they are not available now).

I run 295/35/18's on my Advan TC3's. Have you considered them? The Advan's rear wheels are 10.5 et25 which a little less aggressive than the TE37's.

Yeh 100% sure-
http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl

UK and US just have different stock, like we just don't have 285-35-18 as that's the idea size I really want

Yeh the Advans are lovely but Japanese wheel wise I just love the Volks.
I'm waiting on Apex getting back to me as I think the 10/11 is the only route I can go unless I go 285-30-18 rear or go ps2-3 but not a big fan of them.
