Help with DA set up

I am going to order a Porter Cable 7424 xp. What I need to know. What are the type of pads to order with it? I have a new car with some webs and I am sure I will get some swirls in due time. I will attempt learning how to use a DA on my work van as advised by a few from here. I would like to know do any of you use a bonnet to wipe off polish or wax to bring out a better shine?

pc 7424 xp and menzerna polish I guess. But blue pad 1st for swirls, orange pad for finishing the polish.

I'm going to try out meguiar 105 and surbuf (but I hear surbuf's might burn paint) so I'll be careful.

Guys I was going for a $60 dollar DA polisher. Now after some advice about the PC xp I was interested in it. I see PC says DA, Griots say random orbital I assume its same as PC. I will not go higher then $140 on unit. This will be for a hobby of upkeeping my new M3. Come on guys steer me right no higher then $140 on machine. Lets get some oppinions from you detailers and Sunday polishers on machines. Tell me also wich pads to get to take lite swirls and webs out of paint, and pads to polish and wax. I would like to order this tomorrow.

The Griot's has more power than the Porter Cable. I've never actually used them and just jumped straight to the Rupes 21.

As for pads, I'd recommend getting more than one of each color. The Uber pads from Detailer's Domain work out really well for me.

So far, I've love the Uber Yellow Pad with Menzerna FG400 followed by the Uber Blue Pad with Sonax Nanopolish 3/6. For starters I'd get at least three Yellow pads and two Blue pads.

I am going with the Griots 3 Gen. Seems like a no brainer, more powerfuland lifetime warrantee, not a bad deal. Does anyone know who is giving the best deal on them. I can not wait to try it out.

I personally like DetailersDomain's package deals with pads/compound/finishing polish since Phil includes Menzerna and Sonax products. However, another good site is AutoGeek for The Griots; chemical guys only sells the Porter Cable. I ordered from them and they're good too especially AutoGeeks forum which is m3post but for detailing.

Whatever you do, get a bundle since you'll end up buying the stuff anyways.

My recommendation stays the same to get Phil's Griots package as it includes top notch products and he lets you choose which pads to get

Spend the extra bucks on the Griots. Also get 5" backing plate and 5" or 5.5" pads. All BMW paint, besides Jet Black, are hard as hell! You will have an easier time correcting with the Griots. As for pads, get yourself some Meguiars microfiber cutting pads if you have some serious swirls.

I'd go with 5-inch pads since it's a random orbital, also a heavier counter weights will help remove some vibration when you do the polishing.

BMW clear coat is hard as hell, so it'll take some time and patience. I personally have had good luck with Menzerna polishes and orange pads, and my paint is swirl free.
