I love cars with open tops but the CF is unique to the E92 M3. I know the M6 has it too but I mean it's a unique option for the 3 series that you can only get on the M3. My friend has an E90 and he's having all kinds of problems with his moonroof getting stuck, leaking, having to reset it. I don't miss having an open top on this car at all. I think it looks great on all colors and the M3 coupe with the color matching top just loses a lot of character. When I was building this car back in early 2008, I debated this over and over again in my head and would make the same decision all over again. Get the CF roof, you won't regret it...

Pros: To me, the CF roof (along with, of course the V8 engine) is part of the special character of this version of the M3. It looks great and it does lighten the car, even if most of us won't be able to notice the difference while driving. I would also imagine if you plan to sell your car in the future, more people will want the CF room

Cons: None, really, except your car does get warmer during the summer. But if you're getting a dark color car anyways, it won't make much difference.

What cons, ok maybe losing the sunroof but it looks awesome on my Silverstone. Last night when we went to decide on the car my fiancee ask why the roof wasn't finished. I told her the roof was extra on an M3 and we could have it installed later. For a minute I think she bought it but then realized she was being played. A great addition to the car IMHO.

Moonroof is better when you're driving, CF is better when you're parked.

I use my moonroof all the time but if I had it to do over again I would get the CF.

I have the CF roof on my car. It does get a lot of positive comments, no doubt due to the contrast with the AW body color.

Last week I happen to be talking with my salesman and he mentioned that on the resale of used E92 M3 coupes, the ones with the sunroof are worth about 1K less. He also said 98% of people want the CF roof.

But of course, you get what YOU like. After all, you are paying for it.

get it for sure if it's a coupe, but if it's sedan don't worry about not having it.

Yes, get it.

The only con I can think of is the finish is more delicate and harder to repair than paint. One of the local members I know has a CF roof on his E92 and has a 1-2cm rock crack/webbing that goes past the resin to the CF weave. Unlike paint, the finish is hard to duplicate and repair. I'd probably put some clear bra on the roof if mine were CF.

CF roof--how many cars have one as an option? It's unique! Moonroofs are not. I've had a moonroof and never really used it. If the open air is important I'd say buy a vert! A vert is the best kind of moonroof!

Yep, that is the best moonroof! Let me rephrase my original statement a bit: a vert is the best moonroof for a 4 wheel vehicle!

Go for CF roof.

I honestly feel that you'll regret it, if you go for the moonroof instead.

The CF roof adds to the sportiness of the M3's character.

I got stuck with a sunroof cause the price of my car was too low to refuse. I fucking hate it. Never use it. CF roof is the distinguishing fact of the e92 M3.

well it depends on what is important to you. In my case I like moon roofs, and having other people ''impressed'' by the roof of my car is of little importance, especially since the performance gains are very small. I don't buy a car to impress people, I buy to drive it. A moon roof makes that experience more enjoyable for me, therefore it's a no brainer. But I can understand some people don't use it and it is for them useless, and not having it gives you a bit more headroom and in certain colours it looks very good on the car. I just happen to prefer the moon roof.

Anyway, isn't this just as simple as "Do you want a moonroof, yes or no?" No moonroof gives better head room. And I do think the CF roof is neat. But if you like having a moonroof, screw the CF roof.
