I got OWNED by a EVO

Yup, I tried guys. I was jamming the gear in so hard I thought I was gonna break my shifter. We did it 3 times, all 3 times ~80-125mph. He got 1/2 car on me all 3 times. He had exhaust (loud, maybe straight pipes), FMIC, don't know what else, but I'm sure its boosted higher than stock.

I put down 316rwhp on dyno jet (275wrhp stock).
Maybe I should have gone with vishnu procede eh? What are ppl on 91 oct putting down with procede? 325hp?

he must have had a bit of work... but sometimes even with mild mods they are fast...but not at top end.. you should have started pulling at top end unless he was really really moded

I've only raced an EVO once when I was stock and so was he....and I smoked him by 2-3 car lenghts pretty easy. It looked new.

But even now with PROcede, if I was to race one moded...I'd be prepared to lose, if that would be the case. Some EVOs are very fast and most of them are not stock.

Do, or do not. There is no try.

Ive raced a modded evo8 and smoke him from a 30mph roll.... (exhaust, intake, tune typical stuff)

Ive also raced a stock evo MR from a 20mph roll and it was a little close until 60mph when i started to pull on him but had to shut down....

I thought most jap cars were all TOP END unlike euros which are low/mid range cars.....

He didn't know how to drive.

Evo IX's can run high 11's with; TBE, intake, MBC, tune

Add intercooler piping and cams for another $1000 or so, and mid 11's are possible.

Evo's have quite a bit more top end than a 335i, not sure where you got that from, and I wouldn't consider 4 mods "really really modded"
335i's have been making great numbers, but Evo's are VERY easy to make fast. I dont think a single 335i has hit 11's yet, and as I said, 11's have been done with just the 4 mods listed above. The driver of course is always the most important thing however.

Oh, and to the OP, fast shifting is done with your feet not your hands, jamming it into gear like that is a good way to break something.

well....the 335 is still relatively new, and we owners are still waiting for upgrades coming to market. The only mods out that are worth buying is the procede.....still waiting on the intercoolers/single turbos/intake/exhaust..any1 interested in the gruppeM intake made of CF or already has one? would like to know what it puts out.......the 335 will be doing 11s in due time~

This is true with the Evo IX's with mild mods... but still top end and procede they will not hang... 1/4 mile they will all day with AWD but i dont think TOP end they have much advantage...

Stylepoint,

I wouldn't even consider that a real race lost. 1/2 car is not really a lost. He probably had a few mods and we already know that the Evos make a lot of power and respond very well to mods so I am not surprised.

From what I have seen so far, both cars are very equal, sometimes the Evo wins, sometimes the BMW wins.

Don't be dissapointed though.

Did you not hear what Vin Diesel said in F&F 1??

"it dont matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning".

Believe it or not the $1500 in mods will put the Evos on a 110-115mph range and sometimes higher if they put some race gas.

I trapped 112mph on mine with $1100 in mods and some race gas

my .2c

Ughh... think about this..

A 2.0L with a medium sized, single turbo vs. a 3.0L with two small sized turbos. Turbo's have a range where they make power, a small motor with a medium sized turbo will have more lag and more top end power, while having less low end power. A medium sized motor with two small turbos will have less lag and more low end power, while having less top end power. This is why the 335i has almost no lag, you cant have no lag AND have top end power, it's always a trade off.

Also, look at the final drive ratio's, I'll compare the Evo MR as it's the 6 speed version. Final drive is 4.85, ie. geared to keep the car up higher in the power band, why? because that's where the power is. The 335i's final drive is 3.08, ie. geared to keep the car lower in the power band, why? because that's where the power is.

Although, I've only owned two Evo's, so what do I know...?

You're lucky you were just racing in a straight line. If a 335i were to tangle with an evo on a race track it would need a hell of a lot more than an ECU mod to have any chance at all. Racing from a roll on the freeway is really the Evo's weakest area. The AWD kills it.

I have PSS9 (2F2R). HR Spacers, HR F and R sway bars. I still miss the Quattro in my Audi. But Guys, I was just sharing a little fun I had with an Evo on the 5FWY late at night. The evo driver was really cool, said nice car and everything when he waved off. M3 guys on the other hand are dicks, rev on me, cut me off, make me inhale exhaust fames... just to prove to me he is the bad ass on the road I'm not disappointed or pissed in any ways, there are many cars faster than a 335. I just wish I had 30 more HP juice:rocks: Time to switch piggy back systems?

BTW, I have AW, should I get matte black with chrome lip deep dish? Or Do you think Brushed Aluminum with Chrome Lip?
