Gruppe M intake vs. replacement filters on sound difference

I was considering about buying the Gruppe M intake but after reading PG's database I found out that the sound and performance gain are both due to free flow that could probably be achieved by a simple under $100 replacement filter. Now here, I dont "really" care about the ~10 hp gain on the car. All I want is to have a pure mean intake sound. Would a replacement filter be able to achieve partial if not fully how a Gruppe M intake sounds like?

I'd say a filter replacement is like 15-20% the sound of a gruppe m, maybe less.

Yeah, but honestly is it worth the price? Filter and scoops yield practically the same gains or more than the Gruppe M. I'd rather just get the "cool sounds" from the exhaust + v8

I'm not sure at this point actually. Intake and exhaust yield different kinds of "cool sounds" from the V8

How much lower can it go? I can only get 16mpg city/hwy on the OEM filter. How much less are you guys getting with the after market filters?

+1, I'm lucky if I even get that. Hell, today I was parked with the air-con on for about 5-10 minutes and I saw the miles left on my fuel tank go from 137 to 129

it all depends on the driver and setting and how much you get on the car

Even at idle the thing goes through fuel like a jet plane at idle.. I think the new 997 Carrera S definitely takes the title when it comes to fuel efficiency. If you are on it then forget about fuel.

gruppe m intake is a waste of money, not to mention it takes around 3-4 months to get from Japan. I can never justify spending 5k+ on an intake that only gives me better sound.

I don't know about the Gruppe M, but an aftermarket air filter is necessary if you have a catless exhaust - I can finally hear that beautiful intake again at WOT!

In fact, with its bang for the buck, everyone should have one.
