You could find a low mileage E46 M3 for 25-35k.... beautiful car, stellar performance and a style with will NEVER go out of style. LOADED

For $40k you're not going to get any kind of E9x M3 that is under warranty.

With that kind of money I'd be looking at the Cayman S or 335i with low miles - 2008 or 2009.

+1. i have driven the g35 and g37 coupe which are probably infiniti best performing cars, they don't even hold a candle to the stock e46 m3 in term of look, excitement, etc.

there are so many DIY or part for the e46 m3 now that you can find most of them for very affordable price.

you can even get an 02-03 me for less than 15k and have ton of cash left for modding/maintenance. the e46 m3 is surprisingly realiable and cheap to maintain (if you don't bring it to stealer)

i just purchased a used 09 e90 m3 with 7k miles for 42k out the door, with the certified warranty till 100k miles or w/e the year cut off is (2014 i think)

Call me lucky? the point im trying to make is i either got very lucky or they can be found for that price range.

You got VERY lucky imo.

I have a loaded 08 M3 with 24k miles and theres no way in hell i'd sell it for 42k lol!

But i also think the deal you got will start becoming more common as the economy continues to remain stagnant/in decline.

To the OP, the 08 M3 is a nice find just realise if it's lowered on eibachs/HRs etc and has a MGT exhaust you may catch some flak from dealers taking it in for service. Dont know if you can but i'd try to purchase the BMW extended warranty for the vehicle as out of warranty e9x M3's can be pricey to repair.
