OK, let's sort through this. He can't just take you to jail without charging you with a crime; and he can't tow your car unless it is involved in a crime, or unless he takes you to jail and it would remain parked illegally. So if you ask him to cough up a search warrant, you're saying he can take you to jail. What crime is the basis for the charges and taking you to jail? Demanding for the officer to comply with the US Constitution isn't a criminal act (not yet at least). Demanding that he follow proper protocol to obtain a search warrant before searching your property isn't a criminal act. So where's the criminal act that's getting you thrown in jail and your car towed? Then after he's kidnapped you, illegally thrown you in jail, and illegally towed and possibly stolen your car, what is the probable cause he's going to present to the judge to get the search warrant so he can go on a fishing expedition?

Remember, the US isn't some 3rd-world banana republic.

Cops can do whatever they want.. I'm just being honest. You can even have your car impounded for having a exhaust system. It all depends on how big of a dick the cop is. Most of the time, you get a state ref ticket which means you have to make your car BONE stock and go to a special office to get it signed off (who are trained to know what is what) I'm just speaking from experience since I've had many many friends with these issues.

If I get the ESS supercharger it will be the ONLY mod my car will have. I even like the sound of my stock exhaust (although I don't like the fact that the "suitcase" muffler is hanging so damn low). So there is no way a cop stopping me for speeding will be able to see any visible signs of illegal mods on my car.

Are you telling me that this cop MUST absolutely have a search warrant to look under my hood? If you are right then the risk of getting caught looks like its zero. I mean the risk of getting caught for speeding is pretty high as I drive super fast (other cars look like orange cones to me even now without the SC). I was only trying to assess the risk of getting the car confiscated due to illegal mods. There is a great deal of misinformation out there and its good to have the facts straight on this one considering the $80K investment (M3+SC+tax).

Took the car out yesterday and did a couple quick v-box 60-130 runs. My car runs the VT2-575 with stock cats. With a slight uphill I got a 8.84. Biglare is going to do some runs tomorrow with his car and hopefully post up his results.

What tires/sizes did you use on your runs?

Did you use auto or manual shifting?

What gear/rpm/speed did you start at?

And where did you do the runs?

+1, good questions Robert, agreed on the DCT I've seen graphs were it appears the DCT is actually throwing the car forward, zero momentum loss!
