When did you change your water pump?

My friends 335i just had his water pump go out on him. I know his is different from ours but how long is our water pump suppose to last? I just bought my car and I want to put a few miles on it before I start dumping all kinds of $ into it for preventive maintenance.

Change it when it's having problems or if you have the plenum off for another job like throttle body actuators or themostat.

I think it's way more of a common problem with 335s. I had to replace one with only around 35k miles.

For the m on the other hand doesn't seem to be anyone mentioning an issue with the water pump.
