Interest rates are great right now. Buy a house first and then a car.

These cars cost a lot of money in maintenance/repairs/gas. You are trying to buy a M3 out of warranty and will have to pay a lot of money even if you find a cheap way.

You don't want your M3 to prevent you from buying a house. You will get a better interest rate on your house if you don't have a big car payment.

You could get a newer M3 with all the options if you wait 1.5 years. If I was you, I would probably buy the nicest house I could afford, wait until 2015, buy a 2013 fully loaded/low miles. You don't want a car that someone beat the piss out of. Oh yeah, and do as much over time at work as possible. Make a good first impression and then you can get away with being lazy later.

How is the G in this regard?

E92 M3 is a total dude magnet; I think because every guy reads Car and Driver and C&D worships the M3. If you look at the car in my sig I had three guys in the span of fifteen minutes come over to chat me up while taking those photos in front of some random community clubhouse.

E46 M3 on the other hand, I get honked and waved at relatively often (at least for me) by girls and guys just ignore it. I also knew several girls in high school and college that were obsessed with the E46 M3 and even one who had a big poster of it in her bedroom.

Was talking to a girl in line at Starbucks the other day; she's says shes into cars and then says "well what cars do you have, I'm really into cars and know all about them." I list the M cars, guy overhears us talking and gets excited and says he has a Z4M, she looks at both of us like we're aliens, and says "when I said I was into cars I meant I was into MOPAR, I don't know what you guys are talking about."

Half of the people on these forums, if abiding by advice/rules outlined in this thread, would not be driving M3's now or wouldn't have ever bought their first one.

They should outsource HS career counseling to these forums.. we at least could get paid for it.

Sometimes I find it amusing how much people like to give advice to people complete strangers with financial situations unknown... even if it is entirely sincere.

___

Side note.. I just turned 30, I don't have a job but I have been collecting aluminum cans for the better part of a decade.

I don't have a house, medical insurance, or a drivers license..(low overhead)

I haven't seen my children since I traded them for a pimped out shopping cart 12 yrs ago.

I've always really coveted the guys e92 M3 who works at the building where I sleep in the dumpster.. I've saved up enough money to finally buy a M3, BUT, I'm just not sure I can afford the maintenance? Any advice?

If people didn't come here making threads like this then no advice would need to be given. Can't put the cart before the horse.

Do it!! and to be unique: Alpine White e92 with Carbon Roof. 6MT of course.

Ditch the kids, they just make the car heavier.

How'd you find out she had an e46 M3 poster in her bedroom?

The G wagon has declined in popularity among both men and women I believe. It's my wife's DD but when I get a chance to take it out, no one notices. And if they do, they usually give me a look of disapproval (YOU'RE KILLING THE EARTH look).

Also - to begin with - the fact that you are asking this question on a public forum and can't make the decision yourself might only signal that your brain tells you it is a bad idea but your heart is searching for someone here to tell you to buy it, so that you could then blame it on that person :-) Listen to your brain

financial advice i can give is ... i made good money from age 20 on and i also blew alot of it ... but it was fun while doing it but realistically i wish i had saved more of it .

ive had 9 cars and 3 streetbikes so far

definitely sit on it and think it thru.. maybe take the anticipated expenses out of the bank each month and put it aside. see if you can live comfortably with outit

OP, just do it man...forget the nay sayers most of them are in the same situation like you and pretend like the M3 is not affordable to anyone else but themselves. Take your time, find the right car that hasn't been abused etc. and you should be fine and M3's sell fairly quickly therefore you shouldn't have a hard time unloading in case you really can't take the payments anymore.

Also these cars depreciate a lot better then others with that being said you will not loose your entire downpayment.

Doing sort of "back of the envelope math here" w/ a 10k down and today's interest rates (given you qualify), you s/b able to look at 40k+ cars
