i'm sorry but god i can't stand people that can't brake in a linear motion...she looks like she didn't apply even close to enough braking force to begin with. not fair, and you weren't following that close at all

^ o no, as stated, that video is not me. im just referring to when he hit the car in front is how i felt, that thud .

hopefully the estimate is done tommorow so i know everything and then insurance adjustor needs to come and see it and we'll see how it goes.

im praying to god for a smooth process and no other implications...

yea you right, just wanted to cheer myself up... fuck man this feeling sucks worse than anything and honestly the funny thing is this shit came to me like 2 weeks is it after i went to court for my speeding ticket... im just on a bad losing streek.

the good thing is at least i don have to worry about the car being totaled due to airbags, that got me nervous when he was talking to me about it.

life has its ups and downs. i think you're lucky that it wasn't too severe of a collision. the stress will pass within a few months...i'm just now getting out of a low spot tbh

i actually didn't have the balls to call my parents when the accident happened. i waited until after the tow which took 1.5 hours, was at dealer, and got driven home. when my parents came back my mom knew right away something was up and when i told her i got into an accident the first thing she said was "i knew it" (moms just got a sense for these things).

one guy was talking to me about how sometimes airbags can total a car? is this true? i thought if the airbags deployed you just buy a new airbag reinstall, code it, and g2g?
Hahaha. Telling your parents you got into an accident is probably one of the worst experiences in the world. I remember when I was 18 and still learning how to drive my father's manual truck. I ended up parking in a terrible spot. The truck was going down hill and facing a pole. I still sucked at driving a manual and I ended up backing right up into someone. I was more worried about stalling the car and hitting the pole than checking to see if any cars were behind me. It wasn't a big accident, but I put off telling my parents as long as possible.

Garage List
First the air bag deploys the side curtain one side or another regardless if someones in the car, it senses impact at all angles and deploys the proper airbags. based on your photo the harder point of contact was the passenger side and therefore deployed the passenger airbag.

Definitely have a Collision center repair the car the headliners are a real art to get in correctly without causing damage.

Sorry about the crash glad your ok..also idk why this is in the ///M forum/

Similar incident to my car

Side curtain and front end total damage was 16k

Sorry to hear all this but the less you say the better. If litigation happens your insurance will handle it but you pay in premiums.
On a side note towards the other crash from the other post, I live 2 miles from there and was trying to drive thru right after that happened and it looked very bad, glad to hear the passenger is doing better.

if I remember right it's a state by state thing, but THAT is the shit that will bite you in the ass the worst, and I've seen it happen to people first hand...and I think it's complete bullshit.

Lots of people will literally wait to the last minute to claim injuries. The reason they do this is because at this poitn the facts aren't fresh, a lot of 'lost data', and they stand a significantly higher chance of winning the suit....

complete bullshit is what it is.

^ for real? i think that is completely fucked up if they win a case on a "lost data" and having so much time pass by. there has to be a time limit no?

there is, but it's WAY too long. i think years in some states cases.

If you're that hurt....it's going to show within a year...

In VA, it's 2 years, I think. I was hurt in an accident and had 2 years to submit bills to the other guys insurance agency.

It does vary by state.

Yes - but they way the courts and the insurance companies work, you have to sandbag the other insurance company. During those years, the injured person can be seeking treatment (ever been rearended? trust me, it can take a while to heal) and incurring costs.

But there are douchebags who will lose their job 2 years after the fact and be desperate enough to try anything.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to 'add to a bill' so to speak years down the road. I'm saying you shouldn't be able to be fine for 2 years, then magically at the end of the it, your neck starts hurting.

I got nailed by Progressive 2 years after an accident that was all paid for.

Used to drive a giant-ass Ford Expedition. Pulling into a parking spot, next to a shitty old Hyundai on my passenger side and the guy in the Hyundai swings the drivers door all the way open as i pull in. I couldn't even see his fucking car, and i definitely could not see his damn door. Well, insurance obviously determines the accident to be my fault and pays the dude $1,200. Have no idea what happened with the money, but I think he had the door fixed at some random-ass body shop that didn't do a good job.

2 *YEARS* later I get a call from Progressive. Basically the guys door was still having issues, he filed another claim with his insurance, they estimated it would take $4,000 to fix and Progressive paid them, informing me after the fact that my rates will definitely go up because the amount they paid to the dude was now $5,200. I cancelled my Progressive policy right away, but still stayed on my insurance record for a while.

thanks for the input guys. the insurance guy met with my body shop guys and the repairs total out to $13k for everything. i should have my car in about 2 weeks.

the girl in the other car filed the claim with my insurance policy and i hope this will be the end of it...

in general after you get into an accident, is it 3 years before your rates go back down again?

times like this i wish my 3er had a pre safe brake feature like benz , does bmw even have this on their upper cars 5, 7, etc?

That's right, and it's up to 3 years from the time that your policy renews, not the time of the accident.
